Therefore thou art inexcusable, O man, whosoever thou art that judgest: for wherein thou judgest another, thou condemnest thyself; for thou that judgest doest the same things.
Daarom is jy sonder verontskuldiging, o mens, elkeen wat oordeel: want waarin jy ‚'n ander oordeel, veroordeel jy jouself; want jy wat oordeel, doen dieselfde dinge.

But we are sure that the judgment of God is according to truth against them which commit such things.
Maar ons is seker dat die oordeel van God is volgens die waarheid teen hulle wat sulke dinge doen.
3
And thinkest thou this, O man, that judgest them which do such things, and doest the same, that thou shalt escape the judgment of God?
En dink jy dit, o mens, wat hulle oordeel wat sulke dinge doen, en dieselfde doen, dat jy die oordeel van God sal ontvlug?
4
Or despisest thou the riches of his goodness and forbearance and longsuffering; not knowing that the goodness of God leadeth thee to repentance?
Of verag jy die rykdom van sy goedheid en verdraagsaamheid en lankmoedigheid; nie wetende dat die goedheid van God jou tot bekering lei nie?
5
But after thy hardness and impenitent heart treasurest up unto thyself wrath against the day of wrath and revelation of the righteous judgment of God;
Maar volgens jou hardheid en onberoulike hart berg jy vir jouself toorn op in die dag van toorn en openbaring van die regverdige oordeel van God;

Who will render to every man according to his deeds:
Wat aan elkeen sal vergeld volgens sy werke:
7
To them who by patient continuance in well doing seek for glory and honour and immortality, eternal life:
Aan hulle wat deur volharding in goeddoen heerlikheid en eer en onsterflikheid soek, die ewige lewe:
8
But unto them that are contentious, and do not obey the truth, but obey unrighteousness, indignation and wrath,
Maar aan hulle wat twisagtig is, en nie gehoorsaam aan die waarheid nie, maar gehoorsaam aan die ongeregtigheid, verontwaardiging en toorn,
9
Tribulation and anguish, upon every soul of man that doeth evil, of the Jew first, and also of the Gentile;
Verdrukking en benoudheid, oor elke siel van die mens wat kwaad doen, van die Jood eers, en ook van die Griek;
10
But glory, honour, and peace, to every man that worketh good, to the Jew first, and also to the Gentile:
Maar heerlikheid, eer, en vrede, aan elkeen wat goed doen, aan die Jood eers, en ook aan die Griek:
11
For there is no respect of persons with God.
Want daar is geen aanneming van persone by God nie.
12
For as many as have sinned without law shall also perish without law: and as many as have sinned in the law shall be judged by the law;
Want soveel as sonder wet gesondig het, sal ook sonder wet omkom: en soveel as in die wet gesondig het, sal deur die wet geoordeel word;
13
(For not the hearers of the law [are] just before God, but the doers of the law shall be justified.
(Want nie die hoorders van die wet is regverdig by God nie, maar die daders van die wet sal geregverdig word.
14
For when the Gentiles, which have not the law, do by nature the things contained in the law, these, having not the law, are a law unto themselves:
Want wanneer die heidene, wat die wet nie het nie, van nature die dinge van die wet doen, hierdie, wat die wet nie het nie, is vir hulleself ‚'n wet:
15
Which shew the work of the law written in their hearts, their conscience also bearing witness, and [their] thoughts the mean while accusing or else excusing one another;)
Wat die werk van die wet in hulle harte openbaar, hulle gewete ook getuigende, en hulle gedagtes intussen mekaar aanklaag of ook verdedig;)

In the day when God shall judge the secrets of men by Jesus Christ according to my gospel.
In die dag wanneer God die geheime dinge van die mense sal oordeel deur Jesus Christus volgens my evangelie.
17
Behold, thou art called a Jew, and restest in the law, and makest thy boast of God,
Kyk, jy word ‚'n Jood genoem, en rus op die wet, en roem in God,
18
And knowest [his] will, and approvest the things that are more excellent, being instructed out of the law;
En ken sy wil, en keur die dinge wat uitnemend is goed, omdat jy uit die wet onderrig word;
19
And art confident that thou thyself art a guide of the blind, a light of them which are in darkness,
En is oortuig dat jy self ‚'n leidsman is van die blindes, ‚'n lig van hulle wat in duisternis is,
20
An instructor of the foolish, a teacher of babes, which hast the form of knowledge and of the truth in the law.
‚'n Onderwyser van die onverstandiges, ‚'n leermeester van kinders, wat die gestalte van kennis en van die waarheid in die wet het.
21
Thou therefore which teachest another, teachest thou not thyself? thou that preachest a man should not steal, dost thou steal?
Jy daarom wat ‚'n ander leer, leer jy nie jouself nie? jy wat preek ‚'n mens moet nie steel nie, steel jy?
22
Thou that sayest a man should not commit adultery, dost thou commit adultery? thou that abhorrest idols, dost thou commit sacrilege?
Jy wat sê ’n mens moet nie egbreek nie, egbreek jy? jy wat die afgode verafsku, steel jy uit die tempels?

Thou that makest thy boast of the law, through breaking the law dishonourest thou God?
Jy wat in die wet roem, onteer jy God deur die oortreding van die wet?

For the name of God is blasphemed among the Gentiles through you, as it is written.
Want die Naam van God word deur julle onder die heidene gelaster, soos geskrywe is.
25
For circumcision verily profiteth, if thou keep the law: but if thou be a breaker of the law, thy circumcision is made uncircumcision.
Want die besnydenis baat waarlik, as jy die wet hou: maar as jy ‚'n oortreder van die wet is, is jou besnydenis onbesnedenheid geword.

Therefore if the uncircumcision keep the righteousness of the law, shall not his uncircumcision be counted for circumcision?
Daarom as die onbesnedene die regverdigheid van die wet bewaar, sal sy onbesnedenheid nie as besnydenis gereken word nie?
27
And shall not uncircumcision which is by nature, if it fulfil the law, judge thee, who by the letter and circumcision dost transgress the law?
En sal nie die onbesnedenheid wat van nature is, as dit die wet volbring, jou oordeel, wat deur die letter en besnydenis ‚'n oortreder van die wet is nie?

For he is not a Jew, which is one outwardly; neither [is that] circumcision, which is outward in the flesh:
Want hy is nie ‚'n Jood wat dit uiterlik is nie; en ook is die besnydenis nie dit wat uiterlik in die vlees is nie;
29
But he [is] a Jew, which is one inwardly; and circumcision [is that] of the heart, in the spirit, [and] not in the letter; whose praise [is] not of men, but of God.
Maar hy is ’n Jood wat dit innerlik is; en die besnydenis is dié van die hart, in die gees, en nie in die letter nie; wie se lof nie van mense is nie, maar van God.
