In the day of my trouble I sought the Lord: my sore ran in the night, and ceased not: my soul refused to be comforted.
In die dag van my benoudheid het ek die Here gesoek: my seer het in die nag geloop, en het nie opgehou nie: my siel het geweier om getroos te word.

I remembered God, and was troubled: I complained, and my spirit was overwhelmed. Selah.
Ek het God onthou, en was ontsteld: ek het geklaag, en my gees is oorweldig. Sela.

Thou holdest mine eyes waking: I am so troubled that I cannot speak.
U hou my oë wakker: ek is so ontsteld dat ek nie kan spreek nie.

I have considered the days of old, the years of ancient times.
Ek het die dae van ouds oorweeg, die jare van ou tye.

I call to remembrance my song in the night: I commune with mine own heart: and my spirit made diligent search.
Ek roep my lied in die nag in herinnering tot my: ek spreek met my eie hart: en my gees het deeglik ondersoek.

Will the Lord cast off for ever? and will he be favourable no more?
Sal die Here vir ewig verwerp? en sal Hy nie meer guns bewys nie?

Is his mercy clean gone for ever? doth [his] promise fail for evermore?
Is sy barmhartigheid heeltemal opgehou? hou sy belofte vir ewig op?

Hath God forgotten to be gracious? hath he in anger shut up his tender mercies? Selah.
Het God vergeet om genadig te wees? het Hy in toorn sy tedere barmhartighede toegesluit? Sela.

And I said, This [is] my infirmity: [but I will remember] the years of the right hand of the most High.
En ek het gesê, Dit is my swakheid: maar ek sal die jare van die regterhand van die Allerhoogste onthou.

I will remember the works of the LORD: surely I will remember thy wonders of old.
Ek sal die werke van die HERE onthou: sekerlik sal ek u wonderwerke van ouds onthou.

I will meditate also of all thy work, and talk of thy doings.
Ek sal ook aan al u werk peins, en van u doen praat.

Thy way, O God, [is] in the sanctuary: who [is so] great a God as [our] God?
U weg, o God, is in die heiligdom: wie is so ‚'n groot God soos onse God?
14
Thou [art] the God that doest wonders: thou hast declared thy strength among the people.
U is die God wat wonders doen: U het u sterkte onder die volk bekend gemaak.
15
Thou hast with [thine] arm redeemed thy people, the sons of Jacob and Joseph. Selah.
U het u volk met u arm verlos, die seuns van Jakob en Josef. Sela.

The waters saw thee, O God, the waters saw thee; they were afraid: the depths also were troubled.
Die waters het U gesien, o God, die waters het U gesien; hulle was bang: die dieptes ook het gebewe.

The clouds poured out water: the skies sent out a sound: thine arrows also went abroad.
Die wolke het water uitgegooi: die lug het ‚'n geluid gegee: u pyle het ook uitgegaan.

The voice of thy thunder [was] in the heaven: the lightnings lightened the world: the earth trembled and shook.
Die stem van u donder was in die hemel: die weerligte het die wêreld verlig: die aarde het gebewe en geskud.

Thy way [is] in the sea, and thy path in the great waters, and thy footsteps are not known.
U weg is in die see, en u pad in die groot waters, en u voetstappe is nie bekend nie.
20
Thou leddest thy people like a flock by the hand of Moses and Aaron.
U het u volk soos ’n trop skape gelei deur die hand van Moses en Aäron.
