How he sware unto the LORD, [and] vowed unto the mighty [God] of Jacob;
Hoe hy aan die HERE gesweer het, en ’n gelofte aan die magtige God van Jakob gemaak het;
3
Surely I will not come into the tabernacle of my house, nor go up into my bed;
Sekerlik sal ek nie in die tabernakel van my huis ingaan nie, of op my bed klim nie;
4
I will not give sleep to mine eyes, [or] slumber to mine eyelids,
Ek sal nie slaap gee aan my oë, of sluimering aan my ooglede nie,
5
Until I find out a place for the LORD, an habitation for the mighty [God] of Jacob.
Totdat ek ’n plek vir die HERE vind, ’n woning vir die magtige God van Jakob.
6
Lo, we heard of it at Ephratah: we found it in the fields of the wood.
Kyk, ons het daarvan gehoor in Efrata: ons het dit in die velde van die woud gevind.
7
We will go into his tabernacles: we will worship at his footstool.
Ons sal in sy tabernakels ingaan: ons sal by sy voetbank aanbid.
8
Arise, O LORD, into thy rest; thou, and the ark of thy strength.
Staan op, o HERE, in u rusplek; U, en die ark van u sterkte.
9
Let thy priests be clothed with righteousness; and let thy saints shout for joy.
Laat u priesters met geregtigheid beklee word; en laat u heiliges juig.
10
For thy servant David’s sake turn not away the face of thine anointed.
Om u dienaar Dawid se ontwil, keer nie die aangesig van u gesalfde af nie.

The LORD hath sworn [in] truth unto David; he will not turn from it; Of the fruit of thy body will I set upon thy throne.
Die HERE het in waarheid aan Dawid gesweer; Hy sal daarvan nie afwyk nie; Van die vrug van jou liggaam sal ek op jou troon sit.
12
If thy children will keep my covenant and my testimony that I shall teach them, their children shall also sit upon thy throne for evermore.
As jou kinders my verbond en my getuienis wat ek hulle sal leer, bewaar, sal hulle kinders ook vir ewig op jou troon sit.
13
For the LORD hath chosen Zion; he hath desired [it] for his habitation.
Want die HERE het Sion verkies; Hy het dit begeer vir sy woning.
14
This [is] my rest for ever: here will I dwell; for I have desired it.
Dit is my rusplek vir ewig: hier sal ek woon; want ek het dit begeer.
15
I will abundantly bless her provision: I will satisfy her poor with bread.
Ek sal haar voedsel oorvloedig seën: ek sal haar armes met brood versadig.
16
I will also clothe her priests with salvation: and her saints shall shout aloud for joy.
Ek sal ook haar priesters met heil beklee: en haar heiliges sal hardop juig.
17
There will I make the horn of David to bud: I have ordained a lamp for mine anointed.
Daar sal ek die horing van Dawid laat uitspruit: ek het ’n lamp vir my gesalfde berei.
18
His enemies will I clothe with shame: but upon himself shall his crown flourish.
Sy vyande sal ek met skaamte beklee: maar op homself sal sy kroon floreer.
