And after six days Jesus taketh Peter, James, and John his brother, and bringeth them up into an high mountain apart,
En ná ses dae het Jesus Petrus, en Jakobus, en Johannes sy broer geneem, en hulle op ’n hoë berg alleen opgelei.

And was transfigured before them: and his face did shine as the sun, and his raiment was white as the light.
En Hy is voor hulle van gedaante verander: en sy aangesig het geskyn soos die son, en sy klere was wit soos die lig.

And, behold, there appeared unto them Moses and Elias talking with him.
En kyk, daar het Moses en Elia aan hulle verskyn, wat met Hom gespreek het.

Then answered Peter, and said unto Jesus, Lord, it is good for us to be here: if thou wilt, let us make here three tabernacles; one for thee, and one for Moses, and one for Elias.
Toe het Petrus geantwoord en tot Jesus gesê, Here, dit is goed vir ons om hier te wees: as U wil, laat ons hier drie tabernakels maak; een vir U, en een vir Moses, en een vir Elia.

While he yet spake, behold, a bright cloud overshadowed them: and behold a voice out of the cloud, which said, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased; hear ye him.
Terwyl hy nog gespreek het, kyk, ’n helder wolk het hulle oorskadu: en kyk ’n stem uit die wolk, wat gesê het, Dit is my geliefde Seun, in wie ek behae het; hoor Hom.

And when the disciples heard [it], they fell on their face, and were sore afraid.
En toe die dissipels dit gehoor het, het hulle op hulle aangesig geval, en baie bevrees geword.

And Jesus came and touched them, and said, Arise, and be not afraid.
En Jesus het gekom en hulle aangeraak, en gesê, Staan op, en wees nie bevrees nie.

And when they had lifted up their eyes, they saw no man, save Jesus only.
En toe hulle hulle oë opgelig het, het hulle niemand gesien nie, behalwe Jesus alleen.

And as they came down from the mountain, Jesus charged them, saying, Tell the vision to no man, until the Son of man be risen again from the dead.
En toe hulle van die berg afklim, het Jesus hulle beveel, sê, Vertel die visioen aan niemand nie, totdat die Seun van die mens uit die dooies opgewek is.

And his disciples asked him, saying, Why then say the scribes that Elias must first come?
En sy dissipels het Hom gevra, sê, Waarom sê die skrifgeleerdes dan dat Elia eers moet kom?

And Jesus answered and said unto them, Elias truly shall first come, and restore all things.
En Jesus het geantwoord en tot hulle gesê, Elia kom waarlik eers, en sal alle dinge herstel:

But I say unto you, That Elias is come already, and they knew him not, but have done unto him whatsoever they listed. Likewise shall also the Son of man suffer of them.
Maar ek sê vir julle, Dat Elia alreeds gekom het, en hulle het hom nie geken nie, maar het aan hom gedoen wat hulle wou. So sal die Seun van die mens ook deur hulle ly.

Then the disciples understood that he spake unto them of John the Baptist.
Toe het die dissipels verstaan dat Hy tot hulle van Johannes die Doper gespreek het.

And when they were come to the multitude, there came to him a [certain] man, kneeling down to him, and saying,
En toe hulle by die skare gekom het, het daar ’n man by Hom gekom, wat voor Hom op die knieë geval het,
15
Lord, have mercy on my son: for he is lunatick, and sore vexed: for ofttimes he falleth into the fire, and oft into the water.
En gesê, Here, wees my seun barmhartig: want hy is maansiek, en ly swaar: want hy val dikwels in die vuur, en dikwels in die water.
16
And I brought him to thy disciples, and they could not cure him.
En ek het hom by u dissipels gebring, en hulle kon hom nie genees nie.
17
Then Jesus answered and said, O faithless and perverse generation, how long shall I be with you? how long shall I suffer you? bring him hither to me.
Toe het Jesus geantwoord en gesê, o Ongelowige en verdraaide geslag, hoe lank sal ek by julle wees? hoe lank sal ek julle verdra? Bring hom hier na My toe.

And Jesus rebuked the devil; and he departed out of him: and the child was cured from that very hour.
En Jesus het die duiwel bestraf; en hy het van hom uitgegaan: en die kind is van daardie selfde uur af genees.

Then came the disciples to Jesus apart, and said, Why could not we cast him out?
Toe het die dissipels alleen by Jesus gekom, en gesê, Waarom kon ons hom nie uitdryf nie?
20
And Jesus said unto them, Because of your unbelief: for verily I say unto you, If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you.
En Jesus het tot hulle gesê, Vanweë julle ongeloof: want voorwaar sê ek vir julle, As julle geloof het soos ’n mosterdsaad, sal julle tot hierdie berg sê, Verwyder jou hiervandaan na daar; en dit sal verwyder word; en niks sal vir julle onmoontlik wees nie.

Howbeit this kind goeth not out but by prayer and fasting.
Maar hierdie soort gaan nie uit nie, behalwe deur gebed en vas.

And while they abode in Galilee, Jesus said unto them, The Son of man shall be betrayed into the hands of men:
En terwyl hulle in Galilea vertoef het, het Jesus tot hulle gesê, Die Seun van die mens sal oorgelewer word in die hande van mense:

And they shall kill him, and the third day he shall be raised again. And they were exceeding sorry.
En hulle sal Hom doodmaak, en die derde dag sal Hy opgewek word. En hulle was baie bedroef.

And when they were come to Capernaum, they that received tribute [money] came to Peter, and said, Doth not your master pay tribute?
En toe hulle in Kapérnaüm gekom het, het dié wat die tempelbelasting ontvang, by Petrus gekom, en gesê, Betaal julle Meester nie die tempelbelasting nie?

He saith, Yes. And when he was come into the house, Jesus prevented him, saying, What thinkest thou, Simon? of whom do the kings of the earth take custom or tribute? of their own children, or of strangers?
Hy het gesê, Ja. En toe hy in die huis gekom het, het Jesus hom vooruitgegaan, sê, Wat dink jy, Simon? van wie neem die konings van die aarde tol of belasting? van hulle eie kinders, of van vreemdelinge?

Peter saith unto him, Of strangers. Jesus saith unto him, Then are the children free.
Petrus het tot Hom gesê, Van vreemdelinge. Jesus het tot hom gesê, Dan is die kinders vry.

Notwithstanding, lest we should offend them, go thou to the sea, and cast an hook, and take up the fish that first cometh up; and when thou hast opened his mouth, thou shalt find a piece of money: that take, and give unto them for me and thee.
Nietemin, dat ons hulle nie aanstoot gee nie, gaan na die see, gooi ‚'n angel in, en neem die eerste vis wat opkom; en wanneer jy sy bek oopmaak, sal jy ‚'n muntstuk vind: neem dit, en gee dit aan hulle vir My en jou.
