And they came over unto the other side of the sea, into the country of the Gadarenes.

And when he was come out of the ship, immediately there met him out of the tombs a man with an unclean spirit,
En toe Hy uit die skip uitgegaan het, het Hom dadelik uit die grafte ‚'n man met ‚'n onreine gees ontmoet,

Who had [his] dwelling among the tombs; and no man could bind him, no, not with chains:
Wat sy woning tussen die grafte gehad het; en niemand kon hom bind nie, nee, nie met kettings nie:
4
Because that he had been often bound with fetters and chains, and the chains had been plucked asunder by him, and the fetters broken in pieces: neither could any [man] tame him.
Omdat hy dikwels met voetboeie en kettings gebind was, en die kettings is deur hom uitmekaar getrek, en die voetboeie stukkend gebreek: en niemand was in staat om hom te tem nie.

And always, night and day, he was in the mountains, and in the tombs, crying, and cutting himself with stones.
En altyd, nag en dag, was hy in die berge, en in die grafte, en het uitgeroep, en homself met klippe stukkend geslaan.

But when he saw Jesus afar off, he ran and worshipped him,
Maar toe hy Jesus van ver af sien, het hy gehardloop en Hom aanbid,

And cried with a loud voice, and said, What have I to do with thee, Jesus, [thou] Son of the most high God? I adjure thee by God, that thou torment me not.
En met ’n groot stem uitgeroep, en gesê, Wat het ek met U te doen, Jesus, U Seun van die allerhoogste God? ek besweer U by God, dat U my nie pynig nie.

For he said unto him, Come out of the man, [thou] unclean spirit.
Want Hy het tot hom gesê, Gaan uit van die mens, jy onreine gees.

And he asked him, What [is] thy name? And he answered, saying, My name [is] Legion: for we are many.
En Hy het hom gevra, Wat is jou naam? En hy het geantwoord, sê, My naam is Legioen: want ons is baie.
10
And he besought him much that he would not send them away out of the country.
En hy het Hom baie gesmeek dat Hy hulle nie uit die land sou uitstuur nie.

Now there was there nigh unto the mountains a great herd of swine feeding.
Nou was daar naby die berge ‚'n groot trop varke aan die wei.

And all the devils besought him, saying, Send us into the swine, that we may enter into them.
En al die duiwels het Hom gesmeek, sê, Stuur ons in die varke, dat ons in hulle mag ingaan.

And forthwith Jesus gave them leave. And the unclean spirits went out, and entered into the swine: and the herd ran violently down a steep place into the sea, (they were about two thousand;) and were choked in the sea.
En dadelik het Jesus hulle toegelaat. En die onreine geeste het uitgegaan, en in die varke ingegaan: en die trop het van die steilte af in die see gehardloop, (hulle was omtrent twee duisend;) en is in die see verstik.

And they that fed the swine fled, and told [it] in the city, and in the country. And they went out to see what it was that was done.
En dié wat die varke opgepas het, het gevlug, en dit in die stad, en in die land vertel. En hulle het uitgegaan om te sien wat dit was wat gebeur het.

And they come to Jesus, and see him that was possessed with the devil, and had the legion, sitting, and clothed, and in his right mind: and they were afraid.
En hulle het by Jesus gekom, en hom sien wat van die duiwel besete was, en die legioen gehad het, sittende, en gekleed, en by sy verstand: en hulle was bevrees.

And they that saw [it] told them how it befell to him that was possessed with the devil, and [also] concerning the swine.
En dié wat dit gesien het, het hulle vertel hoe dit met hom gegaan het wat van die duiwel besete was, en ook aangaande die varke.

And they began to pray him to depart out of their coasts.
En hulle het begin om Hom te smeek om uit hulle grense weg te gaan.

And when he was come into the ship, he that had been possessed with the devil prayed him that he might be with him.
En toe Hy in die skip gegaan het, het hy wat van die duiwel besete was, Hom gesmeek dat hy by Hom mag wees.

Howbeit Jesus suffered him not, but saith unto him, Go home to thy friends, and tell them how great things the Lord hath done for thee, and hath had compassion on thee.
Maar Jesus het hom nie toegelaat nie, maar tot hom gesê, Gaan na jou huis, na jou vriende, en vertel hulle watter groot dinge die Here vir jou gedoen het, en hoe Hy medelye met jou gehad het.

And he departed, and began to publish in Decapolis how great things Jesus had done for him: and all [men] did marvel.
En hy het weggegaan, en begin om in Dekápolis te verkondig watter groot dinge Jesus vir hom gedoen het: en almal het hulle verwonder.

And when Jesus was passed over again by ship unto the other side, much people gathered unto him: and he was nigh unto the sea.
En toe Jesus weer in die skip oorgevaar het na die oorkant, het ‚'n groot skare by Hom bymekaargekom: en Hy was naby die see.

And, behold, there cometh one of the rulers of the synagogue, Jairus by name; and when he saw him, he fell at his feet,
En kyk, daar het een van die owerstes van die sinagoge gekom, Jaïrus met name; en toe hy Hom sien, het hy aan sy voete neergeval,

And besought him greatly, saying, My little daughter lieth at the point of death: [I pray thee], come and lay thy hands on her, that she may be healed; and she shall live.
En Hom baie gesmeek, sê, My dogtertjie lê op die punt van die dood: ek bid U, kom en lê u hande op haar, dat sy genees mag word; en sy sal lewe.

And [Jesus] went with him; and much people followed him, and thronged him.
En Jesus het met hom gegaan; en baie mense het Hom gevolg, en Hom verdruk.

And a certain woman, which had an issue of blood twelve years,
En ‚'n sekere vrou, wat twaalf jaar lank ‚'n bloedvloeiing gehad het,

And had suffered many things of many physicians, and had spent all that she had, and was nothing bettered, but rather grew worse,
En baie gely het onder baie geneeshere, en al haar goed bestee het, en niks beter geword het nie, maar eerder erger,

When she had heard of Jesus, came in the press behind, and touched his garment.
Toe sy van Jesus gehoor het, het sy in die skare van agter gekom, en sy kleed aangeraak.

For she said, If I may touch but his clothes, I shall be whole.
Want sy het gesê, As ek maar net sy klere mag aanraak, sal ek gesond word.

And straightway the fountain of her blood was dried up; and she felt in [her] body that she was healed of that plague.
En dadelik het die fontein van haar bloed opgedroog; en sy het in haar liggaam gevoel dat sy van daardie plaag genees was.

And Jesus, immediately knowing in himself that virtue had gone out of him, turned him about in the press, and said, Who touched my clothes?
En Jesus, dadelik wetende in Homself dat krag van Hom uitgegaan het, het Hom in die skare omgedraai, en gesê, Wie het my klere aangeraak?

And his disciples said unto him, Thou seest the multitude thronging thee, and sayest thou, Who touched me?
En sy dissipels het tot Hom gesê, U sien die skare wat U verdruk, en sê U, Wie het My aangeraak?

And he looked round about to see her that had done this thing.
En Hy het rondgekyk om haar te sien wat dit gedoen het.

But the woman fearing and trembling, knowing what was done in her, came and fell down before him, and told him all the truth.
Maar die vrou, bevrees en bewend, wetende wat in haar gebeur het, het gekom en voor Hom neergeval, en Hom die hele waarheid vertel.

And he said unto her, Daughter, thy faith hath made thee whole; go in peace, and be whole of thy plague.
En Hy het tot haar gesê, Dogter, jou geloof het jou gered; gaan in vrede, en wees genees van jou plaag.

While he yet spake, there came from the ruler of the synagogue’s [house certain] which said, Thy daughter is dead: why troublest thou the Master any further?
Terwyl Hy nog gespreek het, het daar van die owerste van die sinagoge se huis gekom, sê, Jou dogter is dood: waarom benoud maak jy die Meester nog?

As soon as Jesus heard the word that was spoken, he saith unto the ruler of the synagogue, Be not afraid, only believe.
So gou as Jesus die woord gehoor het wat gespreek is, het Hy tot die owerste van die sinagoge gesê, Wees nie bevrees nie, glo net.

And he suffered no man to follow him, save Peter, and James, and John the brother of James.
En Hy het niemand toegelaat om Hom te volg nie, behalwe Petrus, en Jakobus, en Johannes die broer van Jakobus.

And he cometh to the house of the ruler of the synagogue, and seeth the tumult, and them that wept and wailed greatly.
En Hy het by die huis van die owerste van die sinagoge gekom, en sien die tumult, en dié wat baie gehuil en geweeklaag het.

And when he was come in, he saith unto them, Why make ye this ado, and weep? the damsel is not dead, but sleepeth.
En toe Hy inkom, het Hy tot hulle gesê, Waarom maak julle hierdie tumult, en huil julle? die dogtertjie is nie dood nie, maar slaap.

And they laughed him to scorn. But when he had put them all out, he taketh the father and the mother of the damsel, and them that were with him, and entereth in where the damsel was lying.
En hulle het Hom uitgelag. Maar toe Hy hulle almal uitgewerp het, het Hy die vader en die moeder van die dogtertjie geneem, en dié wat by Hom was, en ingegaan waar die dogtertjie was.

And he took the damsel by the hand, and said unto her, Talitha cumi; which is, being interpreted, Damsel, I say unto thee, arise.
En Hy het die dogtertjie by die hand geneem, en tot haar gesê, Talita kumi; wat vertaal is, Dogtertjie, ek sê vir jou, staan op.

And straightway the damsel arose, and walked; for she was [of the age] of twelve years. And they were astonished with a great astonishment.
En dadelik het die dogtertjie opgestaan, en gewandel; want sy was twaalf jaar oud. En hulle was uitermate verbaas.

And he charged them straitly that no man should know it; and commanded that something should be given her to eat.
En Hy het hulle streng beveel dat niemand dit moes weet nie; en beveel dat daar iets gegee moet word om te eet.
