And he arose from thence, and cometh into the coasts of Judaea by the farther side of Jordan: and the people resort unto him again; and, as he was wont, he taught them again.
En Hy het daarvandaan opgestaan, en in die grense van Judea by die oorkant van die Jordaan gekom: en die mense het weer by Hom bymekaargekom; en soos Hy gewoon was, het Hy hulle weer geleer.

And the Pharisees came to him, and asked him, Is it lawful for a man to put away [his] wife? tempting him.
En die Fariseërs het by Hom gekom, en Hom gevra, Is dit geoorloof vir ’n man om sy vrou weg te stuur? Hom versoekende.

And he answered and said unto them, What did Moses command you?
En Hy het geantwoord en tot hulle gesê, Wat het Moses julle beveel?

And they said, Moses suffered to write a bill of divorcement, and to put [her] away.
En hulle het gesê, Moses het toegelaat om ’n skeibrief te skrywe, en haar weg te stuur.

And Jesus answered and said unto them, For the hardness of your heart he wrote you this precept.
En Jesus het geantwoord en tot hulle gesê, Om die hardheid van julle hart het hy julle hierdie gebod geskrywe.

But from the beginning of the creation God made them male and female.
Maar van die begin van die skepping af het God hulle man en vrou gemaak.
7
For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and cleave to his wife;
Om hierdie rede sal ‚'n man sy vader en moeder verlaat, en by sy vrou bly;
8
And they twain shall be one flesh: so then they are no more twain, but one flesh.
En hulle twee sal een vlees wees: so is hulle nie meer twee nie, maar een vlees.
9
What therefore God hath joined together, let not man put asunder.
Wat God dan saamgevoeg het, laat die mens nie skei nie.

And in the house his disciples asked him again of the same [matter].
En in die huis het sy dissipels Hom weer aangaande dieselfde saak gevra.
11
And he saith unto them, Whosoever shall put away his wife, and marry another, committeth adultery against her.
En Hy het tot hulle gesê, Wie ook al sy vrou wegstuur, en ’n ander een trou, pleeg egbreuk teen haar.

And if a woman shall put away her husband, and be married to another, she committeth adultery.
En as ‚'n vrou haar man wegstuur, en met ‚'n ander een trou, pleeg sy egbreuk.

And they brought young children to him, that he should touch them: and [his] disciples rebuked those that brought [them].
En hulle het kindertjies by Hom gebring, dat Hy hulle sou aanraak: en sy dissipels het dié wat hulle gebring het, bestraf.
14
But when Jesus saw [it], he was much displeased, and said unto them, Suffer the little children to come unto me, and forbid them not: for of such is the kingdom of God.
Maar toe Jesus dit sien, was Hy baie ontevrede, en het tot hulle gesê, Laat die kindertjies tot My kom, en verhinder hulle nie: want aan sulkes behoort die koninkryk van God.

Verily I say unto you, Whosoever shall not receive the kingdom of God as a little child, he shall not enter therein.
Voorwaar sê ek vir julle, Elkeen wat die koninkryk van God nie soos ’n kindjie ontvang nie, sal geensins daarin ingaan nie.

And he took them up in his arms, put [his] hands upon them, and blessed them.
En Hy het hulle in sy arms geneem, sy hande op hulle gelê, en hulle geseën.
17
And when he was gone forth into the way, there came one running, and kneeled to him, and asked him, Good Master, what shall I do that I may inherit eternal life?
En toe Hy uitgaan op die pad, het daar een aangehardloop, en voor Hom gekniel, en Hom gevra, Goeie Meester, wat moet ek doen dat ek die ewige lewe mag beërwe?

And Jesus said unto him, Why callest thou me good? [there is] none good but one, [that is], God.
En Jesus het tot hom gesê, Waarom noem jy My goed? daar is niemand goed nie, behalwe een, dit is God.
19
Thou knowest the commandments, Do not commit adultery, Do not kill, Do not steal, Do not bear false witness, Defraud not, Honour thy father and mother.
Jy ken die gebooie, Jy moet nie egbreuk pleeg nie, Jy moet nie doodslaan nie, Jy moet nie steel nie, Jy moet nie valse getuienis gee nie, Jy moet nie bedrieg nie, Eer jou vader en moeder.

And he answered and said unto him, Master, all these have I observed from my youth.
En hy het geantwoord en tot Hom gesê, Meester, al hierdie dinge het ek van my jeug af bewaar.

Then Jesus beholding him loved him, and said unto him, One thing thou lackest: go thy way, sell whatsoever thou hast, and give to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come, take up the cross, and follow me.
Toe het Jesus hom aangesien, en hom liefgekry, en tot hom gesê, Een ding ontbreek jou: gaan jou weg, verkoop wat jy het, en gee aan die armes, en jy sal ’n skat in die hemel hê: en kom, neem die kruis op, en volg My.

And he was sad at that saying, and went away grieved: for he had great possessions.
En hy was bedroef by daardie woord, en het bedroef weggegaan: want hy het baie besittings gehad.

And Jesus looked round about, and saith unto his disciples, How hardly shall they that have riches enter into the kingdom of God!
En Jesus het rondgekyk, en tot sy dissipels gesê, Hoe moeilik sal dié wat ryk is, in die koninkryk van God ingaan!
24
And the disciples were astonished at his words. But Jesus answereth again, and saith unto them, Children, how hard is it for them that trust in riches to enter into the kingdom of God!
En die dissipels was verbaas by sy woorde. Maar Jesus het weer geantwoord en tot hulle gesê, Kinders, hoe moeilik is dit vir dié wat op rykdom vertrou, om in die koninkryk van God in te gaan!

It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God.
Dit is makliker vir ‚'n kameel om deur die oog van ‚'n naald te gaan, as vir ‚'n ryk man om in die koninkryk van God in te gaan.

And they were astonished out of measure, saying among themselves, Who then can be saved?
En hulle was uitermate verbaas, sê onder mekaar, Wie kan dan gered word?
27
And Jesus looking upon them saith, With men [it is] impossible, but not with God: for with God all things are possible.
En Jesus het hulle aangesien, en sê, By die mens is dit onmoontlik, maar nie by God nie: want by God is alle dinge moontlik.

Then Peter began to say unto him, Lo, we have left all, and have followed thee.
Toe het Petrus begin om tot Hom te sê, Kyk, ons het alles verlaat, en U gevolg.

And Jesus answered and said, Verily I say unto you, There is no man that hath left house, or brethren, or sisters, or father, or mother, or wife, or children, or lands, for my sake, and the gospel’s,
En Jesus het geantwoord en gesê, Voorwaar sê ek vir julle, Daar is niemand wat huis, of broers, of susters, of vader, of moeder, of vrou, of kinders, of lande, verlaat het om My ontwil, en die evangelie se ontwil,
30
But he shall receive an hundredfold now in this time, houses, and brethren, and sisters, and mothers, and children, and lands, with persecutions; and in the world to come eternal life.
Maar hy sal ’n honderdmaal ontvang nou in hierdie tyd, huise, en broers, en susters, en moeders, en kinders, en lande, met vervolgings; en in die toekomende wêreld die ewige lewe.

But many [that are] first shall be last; and the last first.
Maar baie wat die eerstes is, sal die laastes wees; en die laastes die eerstes.

And they were in the way going up to Jerusalem; and Jesus went before them: and they were amazed; and as they followed, they were afraid. And he took again the twelve, and began to tell them what things should happen unto him,
En hulle was op die pad, opgaande na Jérusalem; en Jesus het voor hulle uitgegaan: en hulle was verbaas; en soos hulle gevolg het, was hulle bevrees. En Hy het die twaalf weer geneem, en begin om hulle te vertel wat aan Hom sou gebeur,

[Saying], Behold, we go up to Jerusalem; and the Son of man shall be delivered unto the chief priests, and unto the scribes; and they shall condemn him to death, and shall deliver him to the Gentiles:
Sê, Kyk, ons gaan op na Jérusalem; en die Seun van die mens sal oorgelewer word aan die owerpriesters, en aan die skrifgeleerdes; en hulle sal Hom tot die dood veroordeel, en Hom aan die heidene oorgee:

And they shall mock him, and shall scourge him, and shall spit upon him, and shall kill him: and the third day he shall rise again.
En hulle sal Hom bespot, en Hom gesels, en op Hom spuug, en Hom doodmaak: en die derde dag sal Hy weer opstaan.

And James and John, the sons of Zebedee, come unto him, saying, Master, we would that thou shouldest do for us whatsoever we shall desire.
En Jakobus en Johannes, die seuns van Sebedéüs, kom by Hom, sê, Meester, ons wil hê dat U vir ons moet doen wat ons ook al vra.

And he said unto them, What would ye that I should do for you?
En Hy het tot hulle gesê, Wat wil julle hê dat ek vir julle moet doen?

They said unto him, Grant unto us that we may sit, one on thy right hand, and the other on thy left hand, in thy glory.
Hulle het tot Hom gesê, Gee ons dat ons mag sit, een aan u regterhand, en die ander aan u linkerhand, in u heerlikheid.
38
But Jesus said unto them, Ye know not what ye ask: can ye drink of the cup that I drink of? and be baptized with the baptism that I am baptized with?
Maar Jesus het tot hulle gesê, Julle weet nie wat julle vra nie: kan julle die beker drink wat ek drink? en met die doop gedoop word waarmee ek gedoop word?

And they said unto him, We can. And Jesus said unto them, Ye shall indeed drink of the cup that I drink of; and with the baptism that I am baptized withal shall ye be baptized:
En hulle het tot Hom gesê, Ons kan. En Jesus het tot hulle gesê, Julle sal inderdaad die beker drink wat ek drink; en met die doop gedoop word waarmee ek gedoop word:
40
But to sit on my right hand and on my left hand is not mine to give; but [it shall be given to them] for whom it is prepared.
Maar om te sit aan my regterhand en aan my linkerhand is nie myne om te gee nie; maar dit sal gegee word aan dié vir wie dit berei is.

And when the ten heard [it], they began to be much displeased with James and John.
En toe die tien dit hoor, het hulle begin om verontwaardig te wees oor Jakobus en Johannes.
42
But Jesus called them [to him], and saith unto them, Ye know that they which are accounted to rule over the Gentiles exercise lordship over them; and their great ones exercise authority upon them.
Maar Jesus het hulle by Hom geroep, en tot hulle gesê, Julle weet dat dié wat gereken word om te heers oor die heidene, heerskappy oor hulle voer; en hulle grootes oefen gesag oor hulle uit.

But so shall it not be among you: but whosoever will be great among you, shall be your minister:
Maar so sal dit nie onder julle wees nie: maar elkeen wat groot wil word onder julle, sal julle dienaar wees:
44
And whosoever of you will be the chiefest, shall be servant of all.
En elkeen wat die eerste onder julle wil wees, sal dienskneg van almal wees.
45
For even the Son of man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give his life a ransom for many.
Want selfs die Seun van die mens het nie gekom om gedien te word nie, maar om te dien, en om sy lewe te gee as ‚'n losprys vir baie.
46
And they came to Jericho: and as he went out of Jericho with his disciples and a great number of people, blind Bartimaeus, the son of Timaeus, sat by the highway side begging.
En hulle het in Jérigo gekom: en toe Hy uit Jérigo uitgaan met sy dissipels en ’n groot skare, het die blinde Bartiméüs, die seun van Timéüs, by die pad gesit en bedel.

And when he heard that it was Jesus of Nazareth, he began to cry out, and say, Jesus, [thou] Son of David, have mercy on me.
En toe hy hoor dat dit Jesus van Nasaret was, het hy begin om uit te roep, en te sê, Jesus, U Seun van Dawid, wees my barmhartig.
48
And many charged him that he should hold his peace: but he cried the more a great deal, [Thou] Son of David, have mercy on me.
En baie het hom bestraf dat hy stil moes bly: maar hy het des te meer uitgeroep, U Seun van Dawid, wees my barmhartig.

And Jesus stood still, and commanded him to be called. And they call the blind man, saying unto him, Be of good comfort, rise; he calleth thee.
En Jesus het stilgestaan, en beveel dat hy geroep word. En hulle roep die blinde, sê tot hom, Wees goedsmoeds, staan op; Hy roep jou.

And he, casting away his garment, rose, and came to Jesus.
En hy, sy kleed weggooiende, het opgestaan, en by Jesus gekom.

And Jesus answered and said unto him, What wilt thou that I should do unto thee? The blind man said unto him, Lord, that I might receive my sight.
En Jesus het geantwoord en tot hom gesê, Wat wil jy hê dat ek vir jou moet doen? Die blinde het tot Hom gesê, Here, dat ek mag sien.

And Jesus said unto him, Go thy way; thy faith hath made thee whole. And immediately he received his sight, and followed Jesus in the way.
En Jesus het tot hom gesê, Gaan jou weg; jou geloof het jou gered. En dadelik het hy sy sig ontvang, en Jesus op die pad gevolg.
