Speak to the children of Israel, saying, Appoint out for you cities of refuge, whereof I spake unto you by the hand of Moses:
Spreek tot die kinders van Israel, en sê, Wys vir julle die stede van toevlug, waarvan ek met julle deur die hand van Moses gespreek het:

That the slayer that killeth [any] person unawares [and] unwittingly may flee thither: and they shall be your refuge from the avenger of blood.
Dat die doodslaner wat iemand onopsetlik en onwetend doodslaan, daarheen mag vlug: en hulle moet vir julle tot toevlug wees van die bloedwreker.

And when he that doth flee unto one of those cities shall stand at the entering of the gate of the city, and shall declare his cause in the ears of the elders of that city, they shall take him into the city unto them, and give him a place, that he may dwell among them.
En wanneer hy wat vlug na een van daardie stede, moet staan by die ingang van die poort van die stad, en sy saak verklaar in die ore van die ouderlinge van daardie stad, moet hulle hom in die stad by hulle inneem, en hom ‚'n plek gee, dat hy by hulle mag woon.

And if the avenger of blood pursue after him, then they shall not deliver the slayer up into his hand; because he smote his neighbour unwittingly, and hated him not beforetime.
En as die bloedwreker hom agtervolg, dan moet hulle die doodslaner nie in sy hand oorgee nie; omdat hy sy naaste onwetend doodgeslaan het, en hom nie van gister of eergister gehaat het nie.

And he shall dwell in that city, until he stand before the congregation for judgment, [and] until the death of the high priest that shall be in those days: then shall the slayer return, and come unto his own city, and unto his own house, unto the city from whence he fled.
En hy moet in daardie stad woon, totdat hy voor die vergadering tot die oordeel staan, en tot die dood van die hoëpriester wat in daardie dae daar sal wees: dan moet die doodslaner terugkeer, en kom tot sy eie stad, en tot sy eie huis, tot die stad waarvandaan hy gevlug het.

And they appointed Kedesh in Galilee in mount Naphtali, and Shechem in mount Ephraim, and Kirjatharba, which [is] Hebron, in the mountain of Judah.
En hulle het Kedes in Galiléa in die berg Naftali, en Sigem in die berg Efraim, en Kirjat-Arba, wat Hebron is, in die berg Juda afgesonder.

And on the other side Jordan by Jericho eastward, they assigned Bezer in the wilderness upon the plain out of the tribe of Reuben, and Ramoth in Gilead out of the tribe of Gad, and Golan in Bashan out of the tribe of Manasseh.
En aan die ander kant van die Jordaan by Jérigo ooswaarts het hulle Beser in die wildernis op die vlakte uit die stam van Ruben, en Ramot in Gílead uit die stam van Gad, en Golan in Basan uit die stam van Manasse afgesonder.

These were the cities appointed for all the children of Israel, and for the stranger that sojourneth among them, that whosoever killeth [any] person at unawares might flee thither, and not die by the hand of the avenger of blood, until he stood before the congregation.
Dit was die stede wat aangewys is vir al die kinders van Israel, en vir die vreemdeling wat onder hulle vertoef, dat elkeen wat iemand onopsetlik doodslaan, daarheen mag vlug, en nie sterwe deur die hand van die bloedwreker nie, totdat hy voor die vergadering gestaan het.
