Hear attentively the noise of his voice, and the sound [that] goeth out of his mouth.
Hoor aandagtig die geraas van sy stem, en die geluid wat uit sy mond uitgaan.

He directeth it under the whole heaven, and his lightning unto the ends of the earth.
Hy stuur dit onder die hele hemel, en sy weerlig tot by die eindes van die aarde.

After it a voice roareth: he thundereth with the voice of his excellency; and he will not stay them when his voice is heard.
Ná dit brul ’n stem: Hy donder met die stem van sy uitnemendheid; en Hy sal hulle nie agterhou wanneer sy stem gehoor word nie.

God thundereth marvellously with his voice; great things doeth he, which we cannot comprehend.
God donder wonderlik met sy stem; groot dinge doen Hy, wat ons nie kan begryp nie.

For he saith to the snow, Be thou [on] the earth; likewise to the small rain, and to the great rain of his strength.
Want Hy sê tot die sneeu, Wees jy op die aarde; net so tot die klein reën, en tot die groot reën van sy krag.

He sealeth up the hand of every man; that all men may know his work.
Hy verseël die hand van elke mens; dat al die mense sy werk mag ken.

Then the beasts go into dens, and remain in their places.
Dan gaan die diere in hulle skuilplekke, en bly in hulle wonings.
9
Out of the south cometh the whirlwind: and cold out of the north.
Uit die suide kom die dwarrelwind: en koue uit die noorde.
10
By the breath of God frost is given: and the breadth of the waters is straitened.
Deur die asem van God word die ryp gegee: en die breedte van die waters word vernou.

Also by watering he wearieth the thick cloud: he scattereth his bright cloud:
Ook maak Hy die dik wolke swaar met water: Hy verstrooi sy helder wolk:

And it is turned round about by his counsels: that they may do whatsoever he commandeth them upon the face of the world in the earth.
En dit word omgedraai deur sy raad: dat hulle mag doen wat Hy hulle beveel op die aangesig van die wêreld in die aarde.

He causeth it to come, whether for correction, or for his land, or for mercy.
Hy laat dit kom, of tot tugtiging, of tot sy land, of tot barmhartigheid.

Hearken unto this, O Job: stand still, and consider the wondrous works of God.
Luister hierna, o Job: staan stil, en oorweeg die wonderlike werke van God.
15
Dost thou know when God disposed them, and caused the light of his cloud to shine?
Weet jy wanneer God dit beskik, en die lig van sy wolk laat skyn?
16
Dost thou know the balancings of the clouds, the wondrous works of him which is perfect in knowledge?
Weet jy die balanserings van die wolke, die wonderlike werke van Hom wat volkome is in kennis?
17
How thy garments [are] warm, when he quieteth the earth by the south [wind]?
Hoe jou klere warm is, wanneer Hy die aarde stilmaak deur die suidewind?
18
Hast thou with him spread out the sky, [which is] strong, [and] as a molten looking glass?
Het jy saam met Hom die hemel uitgespan, wat vast is, en soos ’n gegote spieël?
19
Teach us what we shall say unto him; [for] we cannot order [our speech] by reason of darkness.
Leer ons wat ons tot Hom sal sê; want ons kan niks orden vanweë die duisternis nie.
20
Shall it be told him that I speak? if a man speak, surely he shall be swallowed up.
Sal dit aan Hom vertel word dat ek spreek? as ‚'n man spreek, sal hy sekerlik verswelg word.
21
And now [men] see not the bright light which [is] in the clouds: but the wind passeth, and cleanseth them.
En nou sien manne nie die helder lig wat in die wolke is nie; maar die wind gaan verby, en reinig hulle.
22
Fair weather cometh out of the north: with God [is] terrible majesty.
Mooi weer kom uit die noorde: by God is vreeslike majesteit.
23
[Touching] the Almighty, we cannot find him out: [he is] excellent in power, and in judgment, and in plenty of justice: he will not afflict.
Wat die Almagtige betref, ons kan Hom nie uitvind nie: Hy is uitnemend in mag, en in oordeel, en in menigte van geregtigheid: Hy sal nie verdruk nie.

Men do therefore fear him: he respecteth not any [that are] wise of heart.
Daarom vrees manne Hom: Hy ag nie enige wat wys is van hart nie.
