The word that came to Jeremiah concerning all the Jews which dwell in the land of Egypt, which dwell at Migdol, and at Tahpanhes, and at Noph, and in the country of Pathros, saying,
Die woord wat tot Jeremia gekom het aangaande al die Jode wat in die land van Egipte woon, wat by Migdol, en by Tahpanhes, en by Nof, en in die land van Patros woon, sê,

Thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel; Ye have seen all the evil that I have brought upon Jerusalem, and upon all the cities of Judah; and, behold, this day they [are] a desolation, and no man dwelleth therein,
So sê die HERE van leërskare, die God van Israel; Julle het al die kwaad gesien wat ek op Jérusalem en op al die stede van Juda gebring het; en kyk, hierdie dag is hulle ’n verwoesting, en niemand woon daarin nie;

Because of their wickedness which they have committed to provoke me to anger, in that they went to burn incense, [and] to serve other gods, whom they knew not, [neither] they, ye, nor your fathers.
Vanweë hulle goddeloosheid wat hulle gepleeg het om My te terg, deur te gaan om wierook te brand, en om ander gode te dien, wat hulle nie geken het nie, en julle, en julle vaders.

Howbeit I sent unto you all my servants the prophets, rising early and sending [them], saying, Oh, do not this abominable thing that I hate.
Hoe ek ook al tot julle al my dienaars die profete gestuur het, vroeg opstaande en stuurende hulle, sê, O, doen nie hierdie gruwelike ding wat ek haat nie.

But they hearkened not, nor inclined their ear to turn from their wickedness, to burn no incense unto other gods.
Maar hulle het nie geluister nie, en nie hulle oor geneig om van hulle goddeloosheid af te keer, om geen wierook aan ander gode te brand nie.

Wherefore my fury and mine anger was poured forth, and was kindled in the cities of Judah and in the streets of Jerusalem; and they are wasted [and] desolate, as at this day.
Daarom is my grimmigheid en my toorn uitgestort, en het gebrand in die stede van Juda en in die strate van Jérusalem; en hulle is verwoes en verwoes, soos dit vandag is.

Therefore now thus saith the LORD, the God of hosts, the God of Israel; Wherefore commit ye [this] great evil against your souls, to cut off from you man and woman, child and suckling, out of Judah, to leave you none to remain;
Daarom nou so sê die HERE, die God van leërskare, die God van Israel; Waarom pleeg julle hierdie groot kwaad teen julle siele, om man en vrou, kind en suigeling, uit Juda af te sny, om vir julle geen oorblyfsel oor te laat nie;

In that ye provoke me unto wrath with the works of your hands, burning incense unto other gods in the land of Egypt, whither ye be gone to dwell, that ye might cut yourselves off, and that ye might be a curse and a reproach among all the nations of the earth?
Deur My te terg met die werke van julle hande, deur wierook te brand aan ander gode in die land van Egipte, waarheen julle gegaan het om daar te woon, dat julle julle mag afsny, en dat julle ‚'n vloek en ‚'n smaad mag wees onder al die nasies van die aarde?

Have ye forgotten the wickedness of your fathers, and the wickedness of the kings of Judah, and the wickedness of their wives, and your own wickedness, and the wickedness of your wives, which they have committed in the land of Judah, and in the streets of Jerusalem?
Het julle die goddeloosheid van julle vaders, en die goddeloosheid van die konings van Juda, en die goddeloosheid van hulle vroue, en julle eie goddeloosheid, en die goddeloosheid van julle vroue, wat hulle in die land van Juda, en in die strate van Jérusalem gepleeg het, vergeet?

They are not humbled [even] unto this day, neither have they feared, nor walked in my law, nor in my statutes, that I set before you and before your fathers.
Hulle is tot hierdie dag nie verneder nie, en hulle het nie gevrees nie, en ook nie in my wet, en in my insettinge, wat ek voor julle en voor julle vaders gestel het, gewandel nie.

Therefore thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel; Behold, I will set my face against you for evil, and to cut off all Judah.
Daarom so sê die HERE van leërskare, die God van Israel; Kyk, ek sal my aangesig teen julle stel tot die kwaad, en om die hele Juda af te sny.
12
And I will take the remnant of Judah, that have set their faces to go into the land of Egypt to sojourn there, and they shall all be consumed, [and] fall in the land of Egypt; they shall [even] be consumed by the sword [and] by the famine: they shall die, from the least even unto the greatest, by the sword and by the famine: and they shall be an execration, [and] an astonishment, and a curse, and a reproach.
En ek sal die oorblyfsel van Juda neem, wat hulle aangesigte gestel het om in die land van Egipte in te gaan om daar te woon, en hulle sal almal verteer word, en in die land van Egipte val; hulle sal selfs deur die swaard en deur die hongersnood verteer word: hulle sal sterwe, van die geringste selfs tot die grootste, deur die swaard en deur die hongersnood: en hulle sal ‚'n vloek, en ‚'n verwoesting, en ‚'n vervloeking, en ‚'n smaad wees.

For I will punish them that dwell in the land of Egypt, as I have punished Jerusalem, by the sword, by the famine, and by the pestilence:
Want ek sal dié wat in die land van Egipte woon, besoek, soos ek Jérusalem besoek het, deur die swaard, deur die hongersnood, en deur die pes:
14
So that none of the remnant of Judah, which are gone into the land of Egypt to sojourn there, shall escape or remain, that they should return into the land of Judah, to the which they have a desire to return to dwell there: for none shall return but such as shall escape.
Sodat nie een van die oorblyfsel van Juda, wat in die land van Egipte ingegaan het om daar te woon, sal ontvlug of oorbly, dat hulle in die land van Juda mag terugkeer, waarheen hulle begeer om terug te keer om daar te woon nie: want niemand sal terugkeer nie, behalwe dié wat ontvlug.

Then all the men which knew that their wives had burned incense unto other gods, and all the women that stood by, a great multitude, even all the people that dwelt in the land of Egypt, in Pathros, answered Jeremiah, saying,
Toe het al die manne wat geweet het dat hulle vroue wierook aan ander gode brand, en al die vroue wat daar gestaan het, ’n groot menigte, selfs al die volk wat in die land van Egipte, in Patros, gewoon het, Jeremia geantwoord, sê,

[As for] the word that thou hast spoken unto us in the name of the LORD, we will not hearken unto thee.
Wat die woord betref wat jy tot ons in die Naam van die HERE gespreek het, ons sal nie na jou luister nie.
17
But we will certainly do whatsoever thing goeth forth out of our own mouth, to burn incense unto the queen of heaven, and to pour out drink offerings unto her, as we have done, we, and our fathers, our kings, and our princes, in the cities of Judah, and in the streets of Jerusalem: for [then] had we plenty of victuals, and were well, and saw no evil.
Maar ons sal sekerlik elke woord doen wat uit ons mond uitgegaan het, om wierook te brand aan die koningin van die hemel, en om drankoffers aan haar uit te giet, soos ons gedoen het, ons, en ons vaders, ons konings, en ons vorstes, in die stede van Juda, en in die strate van Jérusalem: want toe het ons brood in oorvloed gehad, en was goed, en het geen kwaad gesien nie.

But since we left off to burn incense to the queen of heaven, and to pour out drink offerings unto her, we have wanted all [things], and have been consumed by the sword and by the famine.
Maar sedert ons opgehou het om wierook te brand aan die koningin van die hemel, en om drankoffers aan haar uit te giet, het ons alles ontbreek, en is deur die swaard en deur die hongersnood verteer.

And when we burned incense to the queen of heaven, and poured out drink offerings unto her, did we make her cakes to worship her, and pour out drink offerings unto her, without our men?
En toe ons wierook aan die koningin van die hemel gebrand het, en drankoffers aan haar uitgegooi het, het ons vir haar koeke gemaak om haar te aanbid, en drankoffers aan haar uitgegooi, sonder ons manne?

Then Jeremiah said unto all the people, to the men, and to the women, and to all the people which had given him [that] answer, saying,
Toe het Jeremia tot die hele volk, tot die manne, en tot die vroue, en tot al die volk wat hom so geantwoord het, gespreek, sê,
21
The incense that ye burned in the cities of Judah, and in the streets of Jerusalem, ye, and your fathers, your kings, and your princes, and the people of the land, did not the LORD remember them, and came it [not] into his mind?
Die wierook wat julle in die stede van Juda, en in die strate van Jérusalem, gebrand het, julle, en julle vaders, julle konings, en julle vorstes, en die volk van die land, het die HERE dit nie onthou nie, en het dit nie in sy gedagte opgekom nie?

So that the LORD could no longer bear, because of the evil of your doings, [and] because of the abominations which ye have committed; therefore is your land a desolation, and an astonishment, and a curse, without an inhabitant, as at this day.
Sodat die HERE nie meer die boosheid van julle doenings, en die gruwels wat julle gepleeg het, kon verdra nie; daarom is julle land ‚'n verwoesting, en ‚'n verwoesting, en ‚'n vloek, sonder inwoner, soos dit vandag is.

Because ye have burned incense, and because ye have sinned against the LORD, and have not obeyed the voice of the LORD, nor walked in his law, nor in his statutes, nor in his testimonies; therefore this evil is happened unto you, as at this day.
Omdat julle wierook gebrand het, en omdat julle teen die HERE gesondig het, en nie die stem van die HERE gehoorsaam het nie, en nie in sy wet, en in sy insettinge, en in sy getuienisse gewandel het nie, daarom is hierdie kwaad oor julle gekom, soos dit vandag is.

Moreover Jeremiah said unto all the people, and to all the women, Hear the word of the LORD, all Judah that [are] in the land of Egypt:
Bowendien het Jeremia tot die hele volk, en tot al die vroue, gesê, Hoor die woord van die HERE, al Juda wat in die land van Egipte is:
25
Thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel, saying; Ye and your wives have both spoken with your mouths, and fulfilled with your hand, saying, We will surely perform our vows that we have vowed, to burn incense to the queen of heaven, and to pour out drink offerings unto her: ye will surely accomplish your vows, and surely perform your vows.
So sê die HERE van leërskare, die God van Israel, sê; Julle en julle vroue het met julle mond gespreek, en met julle hande vervul, sê, Ons sal sekerlik ons geloftes uitvoer wat ons beloof het, om wierook te brand aan die koningin van die hemel, en om drankoffers aan haar uit te giet: julle sal sekerlik julle geloftes uitvoer, en sekerlik julle geloftes vervul.

Therefore hear ye the word of the LORD, all Judah that dwell in the land of Egypt; Behold, I have sworn by my great name, saith the LORD, that my name shall no more be named in the mouth of any man of Judah in all the land of Egypt, saying, The Lord GOD liveth.
Daarom hoor die woord van die HERE, al Juda wat in die land van Egipte woon; Kyk, ek het by my groot Naam gesweer, sê die HERE, dat my Naam nie meer in die mond van enige man van Juda in die hele land van Egipte genoem sal word nie, sê, Die Here GOD lewe.
27
Behold, I will watch over them for evil, and not for good: and all the men of Judah that [are] in the land of Egypt shall be consumed by the sword and by the famine, until there be an end of them.
Kyk, ek sal oor hulle waak tot die kwaad, en nie tot die goeie nie: en al die manne van Juda wat in die land van Egipte is, sal deur die swaard en deur die hongersnood verteer word, totdat daar ‚'n einde van hulle is.
28
Yet a small number that escape the sword shall return out of the land of Egypt into the land of Judah, and all the remnant of Judah, that are gone into the land of Egypt to sojourn there, shall know whose words shall stand, mine, or theirs.
Tog sal ‚'n klein getal wat van die swaard ontvlug, uit die land van Egipte in die land van Juda terugkeer, en al die oorblyfsel van Juda, wat in die land van Egipte ingegaan het om daar te woon, sal weet wie se woorde sal stand hou, die myne, of die hulle s‚'n.

And this [shall be] a sign unto you, saith the LORD, that I will punish you in this place, that ye may know that my words shall surely stand against you for evil:
En dit sal ’n teken vir julle wees, sê die HERE, dat ek julle in hierdie plek sal besoek, dat julle mag weet dat my woorde sekerlik teen julle tot die kwaad sal stand hou:
30
Thus saith the LORD; Behold, I will give Pharaohhophra king of Egypt into the hand of his enemies, and into the hand of them that seek his life; as I gave Zedekiah king of Judah into the hand of Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon, his enemy, and that sought his life.
So sê die HERE; Kyk, ek sal Farao Hofra koning van Egipte in die hand van sy vyande, en in die hand van dié wat sy lewe soek, oorgee, soos ek Sedekía koning van Juda in die hand van Nebukadrésar koning van Babel, sy vyand, en wat sy lewe gesoek het, oorgegee het.
