1
Thus saith the LORD, The heaven [is] my throne, and the earth [is] my footstool: where [is] the house that ye build unto me? and where [is] the place of my rest?
So sê die HERE, Die hemel is my troon, en die aarde is my voetbank: waar is die huis wat julle vir My sal bou? en waar is die plek van my rus?

For all those [things] hath mine hand made, and all those [things] have been, saith the LORD: but to this [man] will I look, [even] to [him that is] poor and of a contrite spirit, and trembleth at my word.
Want al hierdie dinge het my hand gemaak, en al hierdie dinge was, sê die HERE: maar tot hierdie man sal ek kyk, selfs tot hom wat arm is en van ’n berouvolle gees, en bewe by my woord.

He that killeth an ox [is as if] he slew a man; he that sacrificeth a lamb, [as if] he cut off a dog’s neck; he that offereth an oblation, [as if he offered] swine’s blood; he that burneth incense, [as if] he blessed an idol. Yea, they have chosen their own ways, and their soul delighteth in their abominations.
Hy wat ’n os doodmaak is soos hy wat ’n man doodslaan; hy wat ’n lam offer, soos hy wat ’n hond se nek breek; hy wat ’n offer bring, soos hy wat varkbloed offer; hy wat wierook brand, soos hy wat ’n afgod seën. Ja, hulle het hulle eie weë verkies, en hulle siel behae in hulle gruwels.

I also will choose their delusions, and will bring their fears upon them; because when I called, none did answer; when I spake, they did not hear: but they did evil before mine eyes, and chose [that] in which I delighted not.
Ek sal ook hulle waan verkies, en hulle vrese oor hulle bring; omdat toe ek geroep het, niemand geantwoord het nie; toe ek gespreek het, hulle nie gehoor het nie: maar die kwaad in my oë gedoen het, en gekies het dit waarin ek nie behae gehad het nie.

Hear the word of the LORD, ye that tremble at his word; Your brethren that hated you, that cast you out for my name’s sake, said, Let the LORD be glorified: but he shall appear to your joy, and they shall be ashamed.
Hoor die woord van die HERE, julle wat by sy woord bewe; Julle broers wat julle gehaat het, wat julle uitgewerp het om my Naam se ontwil, het gesê, Laat die HERE verheerlik word: maar Hy sal tot julle vreugde verskyn, en hulle sal beskaamd word.

A voice of noise from the city, a voice from the temple, a voice of the LORD that rendereth recompence to his enemies.
‚'n Stem van geraas uit die stad, ‚'n stem uit die tempel, ‚'n stem van die HERE wat vergelding doen aan sy vyande.

Before she travailed, she brought forth; before her pain came, she was delivered of a man child.
Voordat sy in barensnood was, het sy gebaar; voordat haar smart gekom het, het sy ‚'n seun voortgebring.
8
Who hath heard such a thing? who hath seen such things? Shall the earth be made to bring forth in one day? [or] shall a nation be born at once? for as soon as Zion travailed, she brought forth her children.
Wie het so iets gehoor? wie het sulke dinge gesien? Sal die aarde in een dag voortgebring word? of sal ‚'n nasie in een oomblik gebore word? want so gou as Sion in barensnood was, het sy haar kinders voortgebring.

Shall I bring to the birth, and not cause to bring forth? saith the LORD: shall I cause to bring forth, and shut [the womb]? saith thy God.
Sal ek voortbring, en die baarmoeder toesluit? sê die HERE: sal ek wat voortbring, die baarmoeder toesluit? sê jou God.
10
Rejoice ye with Jerusalem, and be glad with her, all ye that love her: rejoice for joy with her, all ye that mourn for her:
Verheug julle met Jérusalem, en wees vrolik met haar, almal wat haar liefhet: juig met haar van vreugde, almal wat oor haar treur:
11
That ye may suck, and be satisfied with the breasts of her consolations; that ye may milk out, and be delighted with the abundance of her glory.
Dat julle mag suig, en versadig word met die borste van haar vertroostinge; dat julle mag melk, en julle verlustig met die oorvloed van haar heerlikheid.
12
For thus saith the LORD, Behold, I will extend peace to her like a river, and the glory of the Gentiles like a flowing stream: then shall ye suck, ye shall be borne upon [her] sides, and be dandled upon [her] knees.
Want so sê die HERE, Kyk, ek sal vrede tot haar uitstrek soos ’n rivier, en die heerlikheid van die heidene soos ’n vloeiende stroom: dan sal julle suig, julle sal op die sy gedra word, en op die knieë gestreel word.

As one whom his mother comforteth, so will I comfort you; and ye shall be comforted in Jerusalem.
Soos een wat sy moeder troos, so sal ek julle troos; en julle sal in Jérusalem getroos word.
14
And when ye see [this], your heart shall rejoice, and your bones shall flourish like an herb: and the hand of the LORD shall be known toward his servants, and [his] indignation toward his enemies.
En wanneer julle dit sien, sal julle hart juig, en julle bene sal floreer soos ‚'n kruid: en die hand van die HERE sal aan sy dienaars bekend word, en sy verontwaardiging aan sy vyande.
15
For, behold, the LORD will come with fire, and with his chariots like a whirlwind, to render his anger with fury, and his rebuke with flames of fire.
Want kyk, die HERE sal met vuur kom, en met sy strydwaens soos ‚'n dwarrelwind, om sy toorn met grimmigheid, en sy bestraffing met vlamme van vuur, terug te gee.

For by fire and by his sword will the LORD plead with all flesh: and the slain of the LORD shall be many.
Want met vuur en met sy swaard sal die HERE oordeel met alle vlees: en die dooies van die HERE sal baie wees.
17
They that sanctify themselves, and purify themselves in the gardens behind one [tree] in the midst, eating swine’s flesh, and the abomination, and the mouse, shall be consumed together, saith the LORD.
Dié wat hulleself heilig, en hulleself reinig in die tuine agter een boom in die midde, wat varkvleis eet, en die gruwel, en die muis, sal saam verteer word, sê die HERE.
18
For I [know] their works and their thoughts: it shall come, that I will gather all nations and tongues; and they shall come, and see my glory.
Want ek ken hulle werke en hulle gedagtes: dit sal gebeur, dat ek al die nasies en tonge sal bymekaarmaak; en hulle sal kom, en my heerlikheid sien.
19
And I will set a sign among them, and I will send those that escape of them unto the nations, [to] Tarshish, Pul, and Lud, that draw the bow, [to] Tubal, and Javan, [to] the isles afar off, that have not heard my fame, neither have seen my glory; and they shall declare my glory among the Gentiles.
En ek sal ’n teken onder hulle stel, en ek sal dié wat ontvlug van hulle na die nasies stuur, na Tarsis, Pul, en Lud, wat die boog trek, na Tubal, en Jawan, na die eilande ver weg, wat my roem nie gehoor het nie, en ook nie my heerlikheid gesien het nie; en hulle sal my heerlikheid onder die heidene verkondig.
20
And they shall bring all your brethren [for] an offering unto the LORD out of all nations upon horses, and in chariots, and in litters, and upon mules, and upon swift beasts, to my holy mountain Jerusalem, saith the LORD, as the children of Israel bring an offering in a clean vessel into the house of the LORD.
En hulle sal al julle broers uit al die nasies as ’n offer aan die HERE bring, op perde, en in strydwaens, en in draagstoele, en op muile, en op vinnige diere, na my heilige berg Jérusalem, sê die HERE, soos die kinders van Israel ’n offer in ’n rein vat in die huis van die HERE bring.
21
And I will also take of them for priests [and] for Levites, saith the LORD.
En ek sal ook van hulle tot priesters en tot Leviete neem, sê die HERE.
22
For as the new heavens and the new earth, which I will make, shall remain before me, saith the LORD, so shall your seed and your name remain.
Want soos die nuwe hemele en die nuwe aarde, wat ek sal maak, voor My sal bly, sê die HERE, so sal julle saad en julle naam bly.
23
And it shall come to pass, [that] from one new moon to another, and from one sabbath to another, shall all flesh come to worship before me, saith the LORD.
En dit sal gebeur, dat van een nuwemaansfees tot ’n ander, en van een sabbat tot ’n ander, sal alle vlees kom om voor My te aanbid, sê die HERE.
24
And they shall go forth, and look upon the carcases of the men that have transgressed against me: for their worm shall not die, neither shall their fire be quenched; and they shall be an abhorring unto all flesh.
En hulle sal uitgaan, en die dooie liggame aanskou van die manne wat teen My oortree het: want hulle wurm sal nie sterwe nie, en hulle vuur sal nie uitgeblus word nie; en hulle sal ‚'n afsku wees vir alle vlees.
