Keep silence before me, O islands; and let the people renew [their] strength: let them come near; then let them speak: let us come near together to judgment.
Hou stil voor My, o eilande; en laat die volk krag vernuwe: laat hulle nader kom; laat hulle dan spreek: laat ons saam nader kom tot die oordeel.
2
Who raised up the righteous [man] from the east, called him to his foot, gave the nations before him, and made [him] rule over kings? he gave [them] as the dust to his sword, [and] as driven stubble to his bow.
Wie het die regverdige van die ooste opgewek, hom geroep na sy voet, die nasies voor hom oorgegee, en hom oor konings laat heers? Hy het hulle soos die stof aan sy swaard gegee, en soos gedrewe stoppels aan sy boog.

He pursued them, [and] passed safely; [even] by the way [that] he had not gone with his feet.
Hy het hulle agtervolg, en veilig verbygegaan; selfs by die weg wat hy nie met sy voete gegaan het nie.
4
Who hath wrought and done [it], calling the generations from the beginning? I the LORD, the first, and with the last; I [am] he.
Wie het dit gewerk en gedoen, en die geslagte van die begin af geroep? Ek die HERE, die eerste, en met die laastes; Ek is Hy.

The isles saw [it], and feared; the ends of the earth were afraid, drew near, and came.
Die eilande het dit gesien, en was bang; die eindes van die aarde was bevrees, hulle het nader gekom, en gekom.
6
They helped every one his neighbour; and [every one] said to his brother, Be of good courage.
Hulle het elkeen sy naaste gehelp; en elkeen het tot sy broer gesê, Wees van goeie moed.
7
So the carpenter encouraged the goldsmith, [and] he that smootheth [with] the hammer him that smote the anvil, saying, It [is] ready for the sodering: and he fastened it with nails, [that] it should not be moved.
So het die vakman die goudsmid aangemoedig, en hy wat met die hamer glad maak, hom wat op die aambeeld slaan, sê, Dit is gereed vir die soldeerwerk: en hy het dit met spykers vasgemaak, dat dit nie beweeg sou word nie.

But thou, Israel, [art] my servant, Jacob whom I have chosen, the seed of Abraham my friend.
Maar jy, Israel, is my dienaar, Jakob wat ek verkies het, die saad van Abraham my vriend.
9
[Thou] whom I have taken from the ends of the earth, and called thee from the chief men thereof, and said unto thee, Thou [art] my servant; I have chosen thee, and not cast thee away.
Jy wat ek van die eindes van die aarde af geneem het, en jou van die hoofmanne daarvan afgeroep het, en tot jou gesê het, Jy is my dienaar; ek het jou verkies, en nie verwerp nie.

Fear thou not; for I [am] with thee: be not dismayed; for I [am] thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness.
Vrees nie; want ek is met jou: wees nie ontsteld nie; want ek is jou God: ek sal jou versterk; ja, ek sal jou help; ja, ek sal jou ondersteun met die regterhand van my geregtigheid.

Behold, all they that were incensed against thee shall be ashamed and confounded: they shall be as nothing; and they that strive with thee shall perish.
Kyk, almal wat teen jou toornig was, sal beskaamd en verleë word: hulle sal soos niks wees; en dié wat met jou twis, sal vergaan.
12
Thou shalt seek them, and shalt not find them, [even] them that contended with thee: they that war against thee shall be as nothing, and as a thing of nought.
Jy sal hulle soek, en hulle nie vind nie, selfs dié wat met jou twis: dié wat teen jou oorlog voer, sal soos niks wees, en soos ’n ding van niks.

For I the LORD thy God will hold thy right hand, saying unto thee, Fear not; I will help thee.
Want ek die HERE jou God sal jou regterhand vashou, sê tot jou, Vrees nie; ek sal jou help.
14
Fear not, thou worm Jacob, [and] ye men of Israel; I will help thee, saith the LORD, and thy redeemer, the Holy One of Israel.
Vrees nie, jy wurm Jakob, en julle manne van Israel; ek sal jou help, sê die HERE, en jou Verlosser, die Heilige van Israel.
15
Behold, I will make thee a new sharp threshing instrument having teeth: thou shalt thresh the mountains, and beat [them] small, and shalt make the hills as chaff.
Kyk, ek sal jou ‚'n nuwe skerp dorswerktuig maak met tande: jy sal die berge dors, en fynmaal, en die heuwels soos kaf maak.
16
Thou shalt fan them, and the wind shall carry them away, and the whirlwind shall scatter them: and thou shalt rejoice in the LORD, [and] shalt glory in the Holy One of Israel.
Jy sal hulle waan, en die wind sal hulle wegneem, en die dwarrelwind sal hulle verstrooi: en jy sal in die HERE juig, en in die Heilige van Israel roem.
17
[When] the poor and needy seek water, and [there is] none, [and] their tongue faileth for thirst, I the LORD will hear them, [I] the God of Israel will not forsake them.
Wanneer die armes en behoeftiges water soek, en daar is geen nie, en hulle tong van dors misluk, ek die HERE sal hulle verhoor, ek die God van Israel sal hulle nie verlaat nie.
18
I will open rivers in high places, and fountains in the midst of the valleys: I will make the wilderness a pool of water, and the dry land springs of water.
Ek sal riviere op hoë plekke oopmaak, en fonteine in die midde van die valleie: ek sal die wildernis ’n poel van water maak, en die droë land fonteine van water.
19
I will plant in the wilderness the cedar, the shittah tree, and the myrtle, and the oil tree; I will set in the desert the fir tree, [and] the pine, and the box tree together:
Ek sal in die wildernis die seder, die sjiitahboom, en die mirte, en die olieboom plant; ek sal in die woestyn die denneboom, en die denneboom, en die bosboom saam plant:

That they may see, and know, and consider, and understand together, that the hand of the LORD hath done this, and the Holy One of Israel hath created it.
Dat hulle mag sien, en ken, en oorweeg, en verstaan saam, dat die hand van die HERE dit gedoen het, en die Heilige van Israel dit geskep het.
21
Produce your cause, saith the LORD; bring forth your strong [reasons], saith the King of Jacob.
Bring julle saak nader, sê die HERE; bring julle sterk redes voort, sê die Koning van Jakob.
22
Let them bring [them] forth, and shew us what shall happen: let them shew the former things, what they [be], that we may consider them, and know the latter end of them; or declare us things for to come.
Laat hulle hulle voortbring, en ons vertel wat sal gebeur: laat hulle die vorige dinge verklaar, wat hulle is, dat ons dit mag oorweeg, en die latere einde daarvan ken; of verklaar ons dinge wat kom.

Shew the things that are to come hereafter, that we may know that ye [are] gods: yea, do good, or do evil, that we may be dismayed, and behold [it] together.
Verklaar die dinge wat hierna sal kom, dat ons mag weet dat julle gode is: ja, doen goed, of doen kwaad, dat ons mag verbaas wees, en dit saam mag sien.

Behold, ye [are] of nothing, and your work of nought: an abomination [is he that] chooseth you.
Kyk, julle is van niks, en julle werk van niks: ‚'n gruwel is hy wat julle verkies.
25
I have raised up [one] from the north, and he shall come: from the rising of the sun shall he call upon my name: and he shall come upon princes as [upon] morter, and as the potter treadeth clay.
Ek het een van die noorde opgewek, en hy sal kom: van die opgang van die son sal hy my Naam aanroep: en hy sal op vorstes kom soos op mortel, en soos die pottebakker die klei trap.

Who hath declared from the beginning, that we may know? and beforetime, that we may say, [He is] righteous? yea, [there is] none that sheweth, yea, [there is] none that declareth, yea, [there is] none that heareth your words.
Wie het van die begin af verklaar, dat ons mag weet? en tevore, dat ons mag sê, Hy is regverdig? ja, daar is niemand wat verklaar nie, ja, daar is niemand wat laat hoor nie, ja, daar is niemand wat julle woorde hoor nie.

The first [shall say] to Zion, Behold, behold them: and I will give to Jerusalem one that bringeth good tidings.
Die eerste sal tot Sion sê, Kyk, kyk hulle: en ek sal aan Jérusalem een gee wat goeie tyding bring.
28
For I beheld, and [there was] no man; even among them, and [there was] no counseller, that, when I asked of them, could answer a word.
Want ek het gekyk, en daar was niemand nie; en onder hulle, en daar was geen raadgewer nie, dat, toe ek hulle gevra het, hulle ‚'n woord kon antwoord.
29
Behold, they [are] all vanity; their works [are] nothing: their molten images [are] wind and confusion.
Kyk, hulle is almal ydelheid; hulle werke is niks: hulle gesmelte beelde is wind en verwarring.
