And it came to pass after these things, [that] the butler of the king of Egypt and [his] baker had offended their lord the king of Egypt.
En dit het gebeur ná hierdie dinge, dat die skinker van die koning van Egipte en sy bakker teen hulle heer, die koning van Egipte, oortree het.
2
And Pharaoh was wroth against two [of] his officers, against the chief of the butlers, and against the chief of the bakers.
En Farao was toornig op sy twee hofdienaars, op die owerste van die skinkers, en op die owerste van die bakkers.
3
And he put them in ward in the house of the captain of the guard, into the prison, the place where Joseph [was] bound.
En hy het hulle in bewaring gegee in die huis van die owerste van die lyfwag, in die tronk, die plek waar Josef gebind was.

And the captain of the guard charged Joseph with them, and he served them: and they continued a season in ward.
En die owerste van die lyfwag het Josef by hulle aangestel, en hy het hulle bedien: en hulle was ‚'n tyd lank in bewaring.

And they dreamed a dream both of them, each man his dream in one night, each man according to the interpretation of his dream, the butler and the baker of the king of Egypt, which [were] bound in the prison.
En hulle het altwee ‚'n droom gedroom, elkeen sy droom in een nag, elkeen volgens die uitlegging van sy droom, die skinker en die bakker van die koning van Egipte, wat in die tronk gebind was.

And Joseph came in unto them in the morning, and looked upon them, and, behold, they [were] sad.
En Josef het in die môre by hulle ingekom, en hulle aangesien, en kyk, hulle was bedroef.

And he asked Pharaoh’s officers that [were] with him in the ward of his lord’s house, saying, Wherefore look ye [so] sadly to day?
En hy het die hofdienaars van Farao gevra wat by hom in bewaring was in sy heer se huis, en gesê, Waarom is julle aangesigte vandag so sleg?

And they said unto him, We have dreamed a dream, and [there is] no interpreter of it. And Joseph said unto them, [Do] not interpretations [belong] to God? tell me [them], I pray you.
En hulle het tot hom gesê, Ons het ’n droom gedroom, en daar is niemand om dit uit te lê nie. En Josef het tot hulle gesê, Behoort die uitleggings nie aan God nie? vertel dit tog aan my.

And the chief butler told his dream to Joseph, and said to him, In my dream, behold, a vine [was] before me;
En die owerste van die skinkers het sy droom aan Josef vertel, en tot hom gesê, In my droom, kyk, ’n wingerdstok was voor my;
10
And in the vine [were] three branches: and it [was] as though it budded, [and] her blossoms shot forth; and the clusters thereof brought forth ripe grapes:
En aan die wingerdstok was drie ranke: en dit was asof dit bot, en sy blomme het opgekom, en sy trosse het ryp druiwe voortgebring:
11
And Pharaoh’s cup [was] in my hand: and I took the grapes, and pressed them into Pharaoh’s cup, and I gave the cup into Pharaoh’s hand.
En Farao se beker was in my hand: en ek het die druiwe geneem, en dit in Farao se beker uitgedruk, en die beker in Farao se hand gegee.

And Joseph said unto him, This [is] the interpretation of it: The three branches [are] three days:
En Josef het tot hom gesê, Dit is die uitlegging daarvan: Die drie ranke is drie dae:
13
Yet within three days shall Pharaoh lift up thine head, and restore thee unto thy place: and thou shalt deliver Pharaoh’s cup into his hand, after the former manner when thou wast his butler.
Binne nog drie dae sal Farao jou hoof ophef, en jou terugbring in jou amp: en jy sal Farao se beker in sy hand gee, volgens die vorige manier toe jy sy skinker was.

But think on me when it shall be well with thee, and shew kindness, I pray thee, unto me, and make mention of me unto Pharaoh, and bring me out of this house:
Maar dink aan my wanneer dit goed met jou gaan, en bewys tog goedheid aan my, en maak melding van my by Farao, en bring my uit hierdie huis uit:
15
For indeed I was stolen away out of the land of the Hebrews: and here also have I done nothing that they should put me into the dungeon.
Want ek is waarlik gesteel uit die land van die Hebreërs: en hier het ek ook niks gedoen dat hulle my in die put gesit het nie.
16
When the chief baker saw that the interpretation was good, he said unto Joseph, I also [was] in my dream, and, behold, [I had] three white baskets on my head:
Toe die owerste van die bakkers sien dat die uitlegging goed was, het hy tot Josef gesê, Ek was ook in my droom, en kyk, drie wit mandjies was op my hoof:

And in the uppermost basket [there was] of all manner of bakemeats for Pharaoh; and the birds did eat them out of the basket upon my head.
En in die boonste mandjie was van allerhande gebak vir Farao; en die voëls het dit uit die mandjie op my hoof geëet.
18
And Joseph answered and said, This [is] the interpretation thereof: The three baskets [are] three days:
En Josef het geantwoord en gesê, Dit is die uitlegging daarvan: Die drie mandjies is drie dae:
19
Yet within three days shall Pharaoh lift up thy head from off thee, and shall hang thee on a tree; and the birds shall eat thy flesh from off thee.
Binne nog drie dae sal Farao jou hoof van jou af ophef, en jou aan ’n hout ophang; en die voëls sal jou vlees van jou af eet.
20
And it came to pass the third day, [which was] Pharaoh’s birthday, that he made a feast unto all his servants: and he lifted up the head of the chief butler and of the chief baker among his servants.
En dit het gebeur op die derde dag, wat Farao se verjaarsdag was, dat hy ‚'n fees vir al sy dienaars gemaak het: en hy het die hoof van die owerste van die skinkers en die hoof van die owerste van die bakkers onder sy dienaars opgehef.

And he restored the chief butler unto his butlership again; and he gave the cup into Pharaoh’s hand:
En hy het die owerste van die skinkers teruggebring in sy skinkeramp; en hy het die beker in Farao se hand gegee:
22
But he hanged the chief baker: as Joseph had interpreted to them.
Maar hy het die owerste van die bakkers opgehang: soos Josef hulle uitgelê het.
23
Yet did not the chief butler remember Joseph, but forgat him.
Tog het die owerste van die skinkers nie aan Josef gedink nie, maar hom vergeet.
