And the LORD visited Sarah as he had said, and the LORD did unto Sarah as he had spoken.

For Sarah conceived, and bare Abraham a son in his old age, at the set time of which God had spoken to him.
Want Sara het ontvang, en vir Abraham ‚'n seun gebaar in sy ouderdom, op die bepaalde tyd waarvan God met hom gespreek het.

And Abraham called the name of his son that was born unto him, whom Sarah bare to him, Isaac.
En Abraham het die naam van sy seun wat vir hom gebore is, wat Sara vir hom gebaar het, Isak genoem.

And Abraham circumcised his son Isaac being eight days old, as God had commanded him.
En Abraham het sy seun Isak besny toe hy agt dae oud was, soos God hom beveel het.

And Abraham was an hundred years old, when his son Isaac was born unto him.
En Abraham was honderd jaar oud, toe sy seun Isak vir hom gebore is.

And Sarah said, God hath made me to laugh, [so that] all that hear will laugh with me.
En Sara het gesê, God het my laat lag; almal wat dit hoor, sal saam met my lag.

And she said, Who would have said unto Abraham, that Sarah should have given children suck? for I have born [him] a son in his old age.
En sy het gesê, Wie sou vir Abraham gesê het dat Sara kinders sou soog? want ek het hom ’n seun gebaar in sy ouderdom.

And the child grew, and was weaned: and Abraham made a great feast the [same] day that Isaac was weaned.
En die kind het grootgeword, en is gespeen: en Abraham het ‚'n groot fees gemaak op die dag toe Isak gespeen is.

And Sarah saw the son of Hagar the Egyptian, which she had born unto Abraham, mocking.
En Sara het die seun van Hagar die Egiptiese gesien, wat sy vir Abraham gebaar het, spot.

Wherefore she said unto Abraham, Cast out this bondwoman and her son: for the son of this bondwoman shall not be heir with my son, [even] with Isaac.
Daarom het sy tot Abraham gesê, Dryf hierdie diensmaagd en haar seun uit; want die seun van hierdie diensmaagd sal nie erf saam met my seun, met Isak nie.

And the thing was very grievous in Abraham’s sight because of his son.
En die saak was baie swaar in Abraham se oë vanweë sy seun.

And God said unto Abraham, Let it not be grievous in thy sight because of the lad, and because of thy bondwoman; in all that Sarah hath said unto thee, hearken unto her voice; for in Isaac shall thy seed be called.
En God het tot Abraham gesê, Laat dit nie swaar wees in jou oë vanweë die seun, en vanweë jou diensmaagd nie; in alles wat Sara tot jou sê, luister na haar stem; want in Isak sal jou saad genoem word.

And also of the son of the bondwoman will I make a nation, because he [is] thy seed.
En ook van die seun van die diensmaagd sal Ek ‚'n nasie maak, omdat hy jou saad is.

And Abraham rose up early in the morning, and took bread, and a bottle of water, and gave [it] unto Hagar, putting [it] on her shoulder, and the child, and sent her away: and she departed, and wandered in the wilderness of Beersheba.
En Abraham het vroeg in die môre opgestaan, en brood geneem, en ’n sak water, en dit op Hagar se skouer gesit, en die kind, en haar weggestuur: en sy het weggegaan, en in die wildernis van Berseba rondgeswerf.

And the water was spent in the bottle, and she cast the child under one of the shrubs.
En die water in die sak is opgeraak, en sy het die kind onder een van die bosse neergesit.

And she went, and sat her down over against [him] a good way off, as it were a bowshot: for she said, Let me not see the death of the child. And she sat over against [him], and lift up her voice, and wept.
En sy het weggegaan, en teenoor gesit, so ver as ’n boogskoot; want sy het gesê, Laat my nie die dood van die kind sien nie. En sy het teenoor gesit, en haar stem opgehef, en gehuil.

And God heard the voice of the lad; and the angel of God called to Hagar out of heaven, and said unto her, What aileth thee, Hagar? fear not; for God hath heard the voice of the lad where he [is].
En God het die stem van die seun gehoor; en die engel van God het uit die hemel tot Hagar geroep, en tot haar gesê, Wat is dit met jou, Hagar? vrees nie; want God het die stem van die seun gehoor waar hy is.

Arise, lift up the lad, and hold him in thine hand; for I will make him a great nation.
Staan op, lig die seun op, en hou hom vas met jou hand; want Ek sal hom tot ‚'n groot nasie maak.
19
And God opened her eyes, and she saw a well of water; and she went, and filled the bottle with water, and gave the lad drink.
En God het haar oë oopgemaak, en sy het ’n put water gesien; en sy het gegaan, en die sak met water gevul, en die seun laat drink.
20
And God was with the lad; and he grew, and dwelt in the wilderness, and became an archer.
En God was met die seun; en hy het grootgeword, en in die wildernis gewoon, en ‚'n boogskutter geword.

And he dwelt in the wilderness of Paran: and his mother took him a wife out of the land of Egypt.
En hy het in die wildernis van Paran gewoon: en sy moeder het vir hom ‚'n vrou geneem uit die land Egipte.

And it came to pass at that time, that Abimelech and Phichol the chief captain of his host spake unto Abraham, saying, God [is] with thee in all that thou doest:
En dit het gebeur in dieselfde tyd, dat Abiméleg, en Figol die owerste van sy leër, tot Abraham gespreek het, en gesê, God is met jou in alles wat jy doen:

Now therefore swear unto me here by God that thou wilt not deal falsely with me, nor with my son, nor with my son’s son: [but] according to the kindness that I have done unto thee, thou shalt do unto me, and to the land wherein thou hast sojourned.
Sweer nou dan hier vir my by God dat jy nie met my of met my seun of met my kleinseun vals sal handel nie: maar volgens die goedheid wat ek aan jou bewys het, moet jy aan my doen, en aan die land waarin jy as vreemdeling vertoef het.

And Abraham said, I will swear.
En Abraham het gesê, Ek sal sweer.

And Abraham reproved Abimelech because of a well of water, which Abimelech’s servants had violently taken away.
En Abraham het Abiméleg verwyt vanweë ’n put water, wat die diensknegte van Abiméleg met geweld geneem het.

And Abimelech said, I wot not who hath done this thing: neither didst thou tell me, neither yet heard I [of it], but to day.
En Abiméleg het gesê, Ek weet nie wie dit gedoen het nie: ook het jy dit nie aan my vertel nie, en ek het dit ook nie gehoor nie, behalwe vandag.

And Abraham took sheep and oxen, and gave them unto Abimelech; and both of them made a covenant.
En Abraham het skape en beeste geneem, en dit aan Abiméleg gegee; en hulle twee het ’n verbond gemaak.
28
And Abraham set seven ewe lambs of the flock by themselves.
En Abraham het sewe ooilammers van die kudde opsy gesit.
29
And Abimelech said unto Abraham, What [mean] these seven ewe lambs which thou hast set by themselves?
En Abiméleg het tot Abraham gesê, Wat beteken hierdie sewe ooilammers wat jy opsy gesit het?
30
And he said, For [these] seven ewe lambs shalt thou take of my hand, that they may be a witness unto me, that I have digged this well.
En hy het gesê, Want hierdie sewe ooilammers moet jy uit my hand neem, dat dit vir my ’n getuienis mag wees dat ek hierdie put gegrawe het.

Wherefore he called that place Beersheba; because there they sware both of them.
Daarom het hy daardie plek Berseba genoem; omdat hulle daar altwee gesweer het.

Thus they made a covenant at Beersheba: then Abimelech rose up, and Phichol the chief captain of his host, and they returned into the land of the Philistines.
So het hulle ’n verbond gemaak in Berseba: toe het Abiméleg opgestaan, en Figol die owerste van sy leër, en hulle het teruggekeer na die land van die Filistyne.

And [Abraham] planted a grove in Beersheba, and called there on the name of the LORD, the everlasting God.
En Abraham het ‚'n tamarisk in Berseba geplant, en daar die Naam van die HERE, die ewige God, aangeroep.

And Abraham sojourned in the Philistines’ land many days.
En Abraham het as vreemdeling in die land van die Filistyne vertoef baie dae.
