And there came two angels to Sodom at even; and Lot sat in the gate of Sodom: and Lot seeing [them] rose up to meet them; and he bowed himself with his face toward the ground;
En die twee engele het in die aand in Sodom aangekom; en Lot het in die poort van Sodom gesit: en Lot het hulle gesien, en opgestaan om hulle tegemoet te gaan; en hy het homself met die aangesig na die aarde gebuig;

And he said, Behold now, my lords, turn in, I pray you, into your servant’s house, and tarry all night, and wash your feet, and ye shall rise up early, and go on your ways. And they said, Nay; but we will abide in the street all night.
En gesê, Kyk nou, my here, draai tog in in die huis van julle dienaar, en oornag, en was julle voete, en julle kan vroeg opstaan en julle weg gaan. En hulle het gesê, Nee; maar ons sal in die straat oornag.

And he pressed upon them greatly; and they turned in unto him, and entered into his house; and he made them a feast, and did bake unleavened bread, and they did eat.
En hy het hulle sterk aangedring; en hulle het na hom toe afgedraai, en in sy huis ingegaan; en hy het vir hulle ’n maaltyd berei, en ongesuurde brode gebak, en hulle het geëet.

But before they lay down, the men of the city, [even] the men of Sodom, compassed the house round, both old and young, all the people from every quarter:
Maar voordat hulle gaan lê het, het die manne van die stad, die manne van Sodom, die huis omsingel, beide jonk en oud, al die volk van elke kant:

And they called unto Lot, and said unto him, Where [are] the men which came in to thee this night? bring them out unto us, that we may know them.
En hulle het tot Lot geroep, en tot hom gesê, Waar is die manne wat vannag na jou toe gekom het? bring hulle uit na ons toe, dat ons hulle mag ken.

And Lot went out at the door unto them, and shut the door after him,
En Lot het uitgegaan na hulle by die deur, en die deur agter hom toegesluit,

And said, I pray you, brethren, do not so wickedly.
En gesê, Ek bid julle, my broers, doen nie so kwaad nie.
8
Behold now, I have two daughters which have not known man; let me, I pray you, bring them out unto you, and do ye to them as [is] good in your eyes: only unto these men do nothing; for therefore came they under the shadow of my roof.
Kyk nou, ek het twee dogters wat nog geen man geken het nie; laat my, ek bid julle, hulle uitbring na julle toe, en doen met hulle soos dit goed is in julle oë: net aan hierdie manne doen niks; want daarom het hulle onder die skaduwee van my dak gekom.

And they said, Stand back. And they said [again], This one [fellow] came in to sojourn, and he will needs be a judge: now will we deal worse with thee, than with them. And they pressed sore upon the man, [even] Lot, and came near to break the door.
En hulle het gesê, Staan terug. En hulle het gesê, Hierdie een het gekom om as vreemdeling te vertoef, en hy wil altyd oordeel: nou sal ons jou erger behandel as hulle. En hulle het hard op die man, op Lot, aangedring, en nader gekom om die deur oop te breek.

But the men put forth their hand, and pulled Lot into the house to them, and shut to the door.
Maar die manne het hulle hand uitgesteek, en Lot in die huis na hulle toe ingetrek, en die deur toegesluit.
11
And they smote the men that [were] at the door of the house with blindness, both small and great: so that they wearied themselves to find the door.
En hulle het die manne wat by die deur van die huis was, met blindheid geslaan, beide klein en groot: sodat hulle vermoei geraak het om die deur te vind.

And the men said unto Lot, Hast thou here any besides? son in law, and thy sons, and thy daughters, and whatsoever thou hast in the city, bring [them] out of this place:
En die manne het tot Lot gesê, Het jy hier nog iemand anders? skoonseun, en jou seuns, en jou dogters, en wie jy ook al in die stad het, bring hulle uit hierdie plek:

For we will destroy this place, because the cry of them is waxen great before the face of the LORD; and the LORD hath sent us to destroy it.
Want ons sal hierdie plek vernietig, omdat die geroep daarvan groot geword het voor die aangesig van die HERE; en die HERE het ons gestuur om dit te vernietig.
14
And Lot went out, and spake unto his sons in law, which married his daughters, and said, Up, get you out of this place; for the LORD will destroy this city. But he seemed as one that mocked unto his sons in law.
En Lot het uitgegaan, en gespreek tot sy skoonseuns, wat sy dogters sou neem, en gesê, Staan op, gaan uit hierdie plek; want die HERE sal hierdie stad vernietig. Maar hy was in die oë van sy skoonseuns soos een wat spot.

And when the morning arose, then the angels hastened Lot, saying, Arise, take thy wife, and thy two daughters, which are here; lest thou be consumed in the iniquity of the city.
En toe die môre aanbreek, het die engele Lot aangedring, en gesê, Staan op, neem jou vrou, en jou twee dogters, wat hier is; dat jy nie omkom in die ongeregtigheid van die stad nie.

And while he lingered, the men laid hold upon his hand, and upon the hand of his wife, and upon the hand of his two daughters; the LORD being merciful unto him: and they brought him forth, and set him without the city.
En terwyl hy versuim het, het die manne sy hand, en die hand van sy vrou, en die hand van sy twee dogters gegryp; die HERE wat genadig was oor hom: en hulle het hom uitgelei, en hom buite die stad neergesit.

And it came to pass, when they had brought them forth abroad, that he said, Escape for thy life; look not behind thee, neither stay thou in all the plain; escape to the mountain, lest thou be consumed.
En dit het gebeur, toe hulle hulle uitgelei het na buite, dat hy gesê het, Ontsnap vir jou lewe; kyk nie agter jou nie, en staan nie stil in die hele vlakte nie; ontsnap na die berg, dat jy nie omkom nie.

And Lot said unto them, Oh, not so, my Lord:
En Lot het tot hulle gesê, Ag, nie so, my Here:
19
Behold now, thy servant hath found grace in thy sight, and thou hast magnified thy mercy, which thou hast shewed unto me in saving my life; and I cannot escape to the mountain, lest some evil take me, and I die:
Kyk nou, u dienaar het genade in u oë gevind, en u het u barmhartigheid groot gemaak, wat u aan my bewys het deur my siel te behou; en ek kan nie na die berg ontsnap nie, dat die onheil my nie tref, en ek sterwe nie:
20
Behold now, this city [is] near to flee unto, and it [is] a little one: Oh, let me escape thither, ([is] it not a little one?) and my soul shall live.
Kyk nou, hierdie stad is naby om daarheen te vlug, en dit is ‚'n klein een: ag, laat my daarin ontsnap, (is dit nie ‚'n klein een nie?) en my siel sal lewe.

And he said unto him, See, I have accepted thee concerning this thing also, that I will not overthrow this city, for the which thou hast spoken.
En hy het tot hom gesê, Kyk, ek het jou ook aangaande hierdie ding aangenome, dat ek die stad nie omkeer nie, waarvan jy gespreek het.
22
Haste thee, escape thither; for I cannot do any thing till thou be come thither. Therefore the name of the city was called Zoar.
Maak gou, ontsnap daarheen; want ek kan niks doen totdat jy daar kom nie. Daarom is die naam van die stad Soar genoem.

The sun was risen upon the earth when Lot entered into Zoar.
Die son het opgegaan oor die aarde toe Lot in Soar ingekom het.
24
Then the LORD rained upon Sodom and upon Gomorrah brimstone and fire from the LORD out of heaven;
Toe het die HERE op Sodom en op Gomorra swawel en vuur gereën van die HERE uit die hemel;
25
And he overthrew those cities, and all the plain, and all the inhabitants of the cities, and that which grew upon the ground.
En Hy het daardie stede omgekeer, en die hele vlakte, en al die inwoners van die stede, en wat op die grond groei.
26
But his wife looked back from behind him, and she became a pillar of salt.
Maar sy vrou het agter hom van agter gekyk, en sy het ‚'n soutpilaar geword.
27
And Abraham gat up early in the morning to the place where he stood before the LORD:
En Abraham het vroeg in die môre opgestaan na die plek waar hy voor die aangesig van die HERE gestaan het:
28
And he looked toward Sodom and Gomorrah, and toward all the land of the plain, and beheld, and, lo, the smoke of the country went up as the smoke of a furnace.
En hy het uitgesien na Sodom en Gomorra, en na die hele land van die vlakte, en gekyk, en kyk, die rook van die land het opgegaan soos die rook van ‚'n oond.

And it came to pass, when God destroyed the cities of the plain, that God remembered Abraham, and sent Lot out of the midst of the overthrow, when he overthrew the cities in the which Lot dwelt.
En dit het gebeur, toe God die stede van die vlakte vernietig het, dat God Abraham onthou het, en Lot uit die midde van die omkering uitgestuur het, toe Hy die stede omgekeer het waarin Lot gewoon het.

And Lot went up out of Zoar, and dwelt in the mountain, and his two daughters with him; for he feared to dwell in Zoar: and he dwelt in a cave, he and his two daughters.
En Lot het opgetrek uit Soar, en in die berg gewoon, en sy twee dogters saam met hom; want hy was bevrees om in Soar te woon: en hy het in ‚'n spelonk gewoon, hy en sy twee dogters.

And the firstborn said unto the younger, Our father [is] old, and [there is] not a man in the earth to come in unto us after the manner of all the earth:
En die eersgeborene het tot die jongste gesê, Ons vader is oud, en daar is geen man in die land om by ons in te gaan na die wyse van die hele aarde nie:
32
Come, let us make our father drink wine, and we will lie with him, that we may preserve seed of our father.
Kom, laat ons ons vader wyn laat drink, en by hom lê, dat ons saad uit ons vader mag bewaar.
33
And they made their father drink wine that night: and the firstborn went in, and lay with her father; and he perceived not when she lay down, nor when she arose.
En hulle het hulle vader daardie nag wyn laat drink: en die eersgeborene het ingegaan, en by haar vader gelê; en hy het dit nie gemerk toe sy neergelê het, en toe sy opgestaan het nie.

And it came to pass on the morrow, that the firstborn said unto the younger, Behold, I lay yesternight with my father: let us make him drink wine this night also; and go thou in, [and] lie with him, that we may preserve seed of our father.
En dit het gebeur die volgende dag, dat die eersgeborene tot die jongste gesê het, Kyk, ek het gisteraand by my vader gelê: laat ons hom vannag ook wyn laat drink; en gaan jy in, en lê by hom, dat ons saad uit ons vader mag bewaar.

And they made their father drink wine that night also: and the younger arose, and lay with him; and he perceived not when she lay down, nor when she arose.
En hulle het hulle vader daardie nag ook wyn laat drink: en die jongste het opgestaan, en by hom gelê; en hy het dit nie gemerk toe sy neergelê het, en toe sy opgestaan het nie.

Thus were both the daughters of Lot with child by their father.
So is albei die dogters van Lot swanger van hulle vader.
37
And the firstborn bare a son, and called his name Moab: the same [is] the father of the Moabites unto this day.
En die eersgeborene het ‚'n seun gebaar, en sy naam Moab genoem: dieselfde is die vader van die Moabiete tot vandag toe.
38
And the younger, she also bare a son, and called his name Benammi: the same [is] the father of the children of Ammon unto this day.
En die jongste, sy het ook ‚'n seun gebaar, en sy naam Ben-Ammi genoem: dieselfde is die vader van die kinders van Ammon tot vandag toe.
