Again in the ninth year, in the tenth month, in the tenth [day] of the month, the word of the LORD came unto me, saying,
Weer in die negende jaar, in die tiende maand, op die tiende dag van die maand, het die woord van die HERE tot my gekom, sê,
2
Son of man, write thee the name of the day, [even] of this same day: the king of Babylon set himself against Jerusalem this same day.
Seun van die mens, skryf die naam van die dag, selfs van hierdie selfde dag: die koning van Babel het homself teen Jérusalem gestel op hierdie selfde dag.
3
And utter a parable unto the rebellious house, and say unto them, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Set on a pot, set [it] on, and also pour water into it:
En spreek ’n gelykenis tot die opstandige huis, en sê tot hulle, So sê die Here GOD; Sit ’n pot aan, sit dit aan, en gooi ook water daarin:

Gather the pieces thereof into it, [even] every good piece, the thigh, and the shoulder; fill [it] with the choice bones.
Versamel die stukke daarvan daarin, selfs elke goeie stuk, die dy, en die skouer; vul dit met die keurige bene.
5
Take the choice of the flock, and burn also the bones under it, [and] make it boil well, and let them seethe the bones of it therein.
Neem die keurige van die kudde, en brand ook die bene onder dit, en maak dit goed kook, en laat hulle die bene daarvan daarin kook.
6
Wherefore thus saith the Lord GOD; Woe to the bloody city, to the pot whose scum [is] therein, and whose scum is not gone out of it! bring it out piece by piece; let no lot fall upon it.
Daarom so sê die Here GOD; Wee die bloedstad, tot die pot waarvan die skuim daarin is, en waarvan die skuim nie uitgegaan het nie! bring dit stuk vir stuk uit; laat geen lot daarop val nie.

For her blood is in the midst of her; she set it upon the top of a rock; she poured it not upon the ground, to cover it with dust;
Want haar bloed is in die midde van haar; sy het dit op die top van ‚'n rots gesit; sy het dit nie op die grond uitgegooi om dit met stof te bedek nie;
8
That it might cause fury to come up to take vengeance; I have set her blood upon the top of a rock, that it should not be covered.
Dat dit grimmigheid mag laat opkom om wraak te neem; ek het haar bloed op die top van ‚'n rots gesit, dat dit nie bedek sou word nie.

Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD; Woe to the bloody city! I will even make the pile for fire great.
Daarom so sê die Here GOD; Wee die bloedstad! ek sal selfs die brandstapel groot maak.
10
Heap on wood, kindle the fire, consume the flesh, and spice it well, and let the bones be burned.
Stapel die hout op, steek die vuur aan, verteer die vlees, en spesery dit goed, en laat die bene verbrand word.
11
Then set it empty upon the coals thereof, that the brass of it may be hot, and may burn, and [that] the filthiness of it may be molten in it, [that] the scum of it may be consumed.
Stel dit dan leeg op die kole daarvan, dat die koper daarvan warm mag word, en mag brand, en dat die onreinheid daarvan daarin mag smelt, dat die skuim daarvan verteer mag word.

She hath wearied [herself] with lies, and her great scum went not forth out of her: her scum [shall be] in the fire.
Sy het haarself met leuens moeg gemaak, en haar groot skuim het nie van haar uitgegaan nie: haar skuim sal in die vuur wees.
13
In thy filthiness [is] lewdness: because I have purged thee, and thou wast not purged, thou shalt not be purged from thy filthiness any more, till I have caused my fury to rest upon thee.
In jou onreinheid is skandelikeheid: omdat ek jou gereinig het, en jy is nie gereinig nie, sal jy nie meer van jou onreinheid gereinig word nie, totdat ek my grimmigheid op jou tot rus gebring het.

I the LORD have spoken [it]: it shall come to pass, and I will do [it]; I will not go back, neither will I spare, neither will I repent; according to thy ways, and according to thy doings, shall they judge thee, saith the Lord GOD.
Ek die HERE het dit gespreek: dit sal kom, en ek sal dit doen; ek sal nie teruggaan nie, en ek sal nie spaar nie, en ek sal nie berou hê nie; volgens jou weë, en volgens jou doenings, sal hulle jou oordeel, sê die Here GOD.

Also the word of the LORD came unto me, saying,
Ook het die woord van die HERE tot my gekom, sê,
16
Son of man, behold, I take away from thee the desire of thine eyes with a stroke: yet neither shalt thou mourn nor weep, neither shall thy tears run down.
Seun van die mens, kyk, ek neem van jou die begeerte van jou oë met ’n slag weg: tog sal jy nie weeklaag nie, en ook nie ween nie, en jou trane sal nie afloop nie.

Forbear to cry, make no mourning for the dead, bind the tire of thine head upon thee, and put on thy shoes upon thy feet, and cover not [thy] lips, and eat not the bread of men.
Hou op van te sug, maak geen rou vir die dooie nie; bind jou tulband op jou, en sit jou skoene aan jou voete, en bedek nie jou lippe nie, en eet nie die brood van manne nie.

So I spake unto the people in the morning: and at even my wife died; and I did in the morning as I was commanded.
So het ek in die môre tot die volk gespreek: en in die aand het my vrou gesterwe; en ek het in die môre gedoen soos ek beveel is.
19
And the people said unto me, Wilt thou not tell us what these [things are] to us, that thou doest [so]?
En die volk het tot my gesê, Sal jy ons nie vertel wat hierdie dinge vir ons beteken, dat jy so doen nie?
20
Then I answered them, The word of the LORD came unto me, saying,
Toe het ek tot hulle gesê, Die woord van die HERE het tot my gekom, sê,
21
Speak unto the house of Israel, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, I will profane my sanctuary, the excellency of your strength, the desire of your eyes, and that which your soul pitieth; and your sons and your daughters whom ye have left shall fall by the sword.
Spreek tot die huis van Israel, So sê die Here GOD; Kyk, ek sal my heiligdom verontreinig, die uitnemendheid van julle sterkte, die begeerte van julle oë, en dit wat julle siel jammer is; en julle seuns en julle dogters wat julle agtergelaat het, sal deur die swaard val.

And ye shall do as I have done: ye shall not cover [your] lips, nor eat the bread of men.
En julle sal doen soos ek gedoen het: julle sal nie julle lippe bedek nie, en ook nie die brood van manne eet nie.
23
And your tires [shall be] upon your heads, and your shoes upon your feet: ye shall not mourn nor weep; but ye shall pine away for your iniquities, and mourn one toward another.
En julle tulbande sal op julle hoofde wees, en julle skoene aan julle voete: julle sal nie weeklaag nie, en ook nie ween nie; maar julle sal wegkwyn vir julle ongeregtighede, en sug die een tot die ander.

Thus Ezekiel is unto you a sign: according to all that he hath done shall ye do: and when this cometh, ye shall know that I [am] the Lord GOD.
So sal Esegiël vir julle ’n teken wees: volgens alles wat hy gedoen het, sal julle doen: en wanneer dit kom, sal julle weet dat ek die Here GOD is.

Also, thou son of man, [shall it] not [be] in the day when I take from them their strength, the joy of their glory, the desire of their eyes, and that whereupon they set their minds, their sons and their daughters,
Ook, jy seun van die mens, sal dit nie wees in die dag wanneer ek van hulle hulle sterkte, die vreugde van hulle heerlikheid, die begeerte van hulle oë, en dit waarop hulle hulle harte sit, hulle seuns en hulle dogters, wegneem,

[That] he that escapeth in that day shall come unto thee, to cause [thee] to hear [it] with [thine] ears?
Dat hy wat in daardie dag ontvlug, tot jou sal kom, om jou dit met sy ore te laat hoor?
27
In that day shall thy mouth be opened to him which is escaped, and thou shalt speak, and be no more dumb: and thou shalt be a sign unto them; and they shall know that I [am] the LORD.
In daardie dag sal jou mond oopgemaak word tot hom wat ontvlug het, en jy sal spreek, en nie meer stom wees nie: en jy sal vir hulle ‚'n teken wees; en hulle sal weet dat ek die HERE is.
