Then sang Moses and the children of Israel this song unto the LORD, and spake, saying, I will sing unto the LORD, for he hath triumphed gloriously: the horse and his rider hath he thrown into the sea.
Toe het Moses en die kinders van Israel hierdie lied tot die HERE gesing, en gespreek, en gesê, Ek sal tot die HERE sing, want Hy is hoog verhewe: die perd en sy ruiter het Hy in die see gewerp.

The LORD [is] my strength and song, and he is become my salvation: he [is] my God, and I will prepare him an habitation; my father’s God, and I will exalt him.
Die HERE is my krag en lied, en Hy het my tot heil geword: Hy is my God, en ek sal Hom ‚'n woning berei; my vader se God, en ek sal Hom verhoog.

The LORD [is] a man of war: the LORD [is] his name.
Die HERE is ‚'n krygsman: die HERE is sy Naam.

Pharaoh’s chariots and his host hath he cast into the sea: his chosen captains also are drowned in the Red sea.
Farao se strydwaens en sy leër het Hy in die see gewerp: sy uitgesoekte owerstes is ook in die Skelfsee verdink.

The depths have covered them: they sank into the bottom as a stone.
Die dieptes het hulle bedek: hulle het soos ‚'n klip in die dieptes gesink.

Thy right hand, O LORD, is become glorious in power: thy right hand, O LORD, hath dashed in pieces the enemy.
U regterhand, o HERE, is verheerlik in krag: u regterhand, o HERE, het die vyand verbrys.

And in the greatness of thine excellency thou hast overthrown them that rose up against thee: thou sentest forth thy wrath, [which] consumed them as stubble.
En in die grootheid van u uitnemendheid het U hulle omvergewerp wat teen U opgestaan het: U het u grimmigheid uitgestuur, wat hulle verteer het soos stoppels.

And with the blast of thy nostrils the waters were gathered together, the floods stood upright as an heap, [and] the depths were congealed in the heart of the sea.
En met die asem van u neus is die waters opgehoop, die vloede het regop gestaan soos ‚'n hoop; en die dieptes is gestol in die hart van die see.

The enemy said, I will pursue, I will overtake, I will divide the spoil; my lust shall be satisfied upon them; I will draw my sword, my hand shall destroy them.
Die vyand het gesê, Ek sal agtervolg, ek sal inhaal, ek sal die buit verdeel; my begeerte sal aan hulle versadig word; ek sal my swaard uittrek, my hand sal hulle vernietig.

Thou didst blow with thy wind, the sea covered them: they sank as lead in the mighty waters.
U het met u wind geblaas, die see het hulle bedek: hulle het soos lood gesink in die magtige waters.

Who [is] like unto thee, O LORD, among the gods? who [is] like thee, glorious in holiness, fearful [in] praises, doing wonders?
Wie is soos U onder die gode, o HERE? wie is soos U, heerlik in heiligheid, vreeslik in pryse, wat wonders doen?
12
Thou stretchedst out thy right hand, the earth swallowed them.
U het u regterhand uitgesteek, die aarde het hulle verslind.
13
Thou in thy mercy hast led forth the people [which] thou hast redeemed: thou hast guided [them] in thy strength unto thy holy habitation.
U het in u goedheid die volk gelei wat U verlos het: U het hulle in u sterkte gelei na u heilige woning.
14
The people shall hear, [and] be afraid: sorrow shall take hold on the inhabitants of Palestina.
Die volke het dit gehoor, en gebewe: angs het die inwoners van Filistea aangegreep.
15
Then the dukes of Edom shall be amazed; the mighty men of Moab, trembling shall take hold upon them; all the inhabitants of Canaan shall melt away.
Toe was die vorste van Edom verskrik; bewing het die magtiges van Moab aangegryp; al die inwoners van Kanaän het wegsmelt.
16
Fear and dread shall fall upon them; by the greatness of thine arm they shall be [as] still as a stone; till thy people pass over, O LORD, till the people pass over, [which] thou hast purchased.
Vrees en skrik het op hulle geval; deur die grootheid van u arm het hulle soos ‚'n klip stil geword; totdat u volk deurgaan, o HERE, totdat die volk deurgaan wat U gekoop het.

Thou shalt bring them in, and plant them in the mountain of thine inheritance, [in] the place, O LORD, [which] thou hast made for thee to dwell in, [in] the Sanctuary, O Lord, [which] thy hands have established.
U sal hulle inbring, en hulle plant op die berg van u erfenis, in die plek, o HERE, wat U gemaak het om in te woon, in die Heiligdom, o Here, wat u hande gevestig het.

The LORD shall reign for ever and ever.
Die HERE sal regeer tot in ewigheid en altyd.

For the horse of Pharaoh went in with his chariots and with his horsemen into the sea, and the LORD brought again the waters of the sea upon them; but the children of Israel went on dry [land] in the midst of the sea.
Want die perd van Farao het met sy strydwaens en met sy ruiters in die see gegaan, en die HERE het die waters van die see op hulle laat terugkom; maar die kinders van Israel het op droë grond in die midde van die see gegaan.

And Miriam the prophetess, the sister of Aaron, took a timbrel in her hand; and all the women went out after her with timbrels and with dances.
En Mirjam die profesies, die suster van Aäron, het ’n tamboeryn in haar hand geneem; en al die vroue het agter haar uitgegaan met tamboeryne en met danse.

And Miriam answered them, Sing ye to the LORD, for he hath triumphed gloriously; the horse and his rider hath he thrown into the sea.
En Mirjam het hulle geantwoord, Sing tot die HERE, want Hy is hoog verhewe; die perd en sy ruiter het Hy in die see gewerp.

So Moses brought Israel from the Red sea, and they went out into the wilderness of Shur; and they went three days in the wilderness, and found no water.
So het Moses Israel van die Skelfsee af laat vertrek, en hulle het uitgegaan na die wildernis van Sur; en hulle het drie dae lank in die wildernis gegaan, en geen water gevind nie.

And when they came to Marah, they could not drink of the waters of Marah, for they [were] bitter: therefore the name of it was called Marah.
En toe hulle by Mara kom, kon hulle nie die water van Mara drink nie, want dit was bitter: daarom is die naam daarvan Mara genoem.

And the people murmured against Moses, saying, What shall we drink?
En die volk het teen Moses gemurmureer, en gesê, Wat sal ons drink?

And he cried unto the LORD; and the LORD shewed him a tree, [which] when he had cast into the waters, the waters were made sweet: there he made for them a statute and an ordinance, and there he proved them,
En hy het tot die HERE geroep; en die HERE het hom ‚'n hout gewys, en hy het dit in die waters gegooi, en die waters het soet geword: daar het Hy vir hulle ‚'n insetting en ‚'n oordeel gemaak, en daar het Hy hulle beproef,

And said, If thou wilt diligently hearken to the voice of the LORD thy God, and wilt do that which is right in his sight, and wilt give ear to his commandments, and keep all his statutes, I will put none of these diseases upon thee, which I have brought upon the Egyptians: for I [am] the LORD that healeth thee.
En gesê, As jy ywerig sal luister na die stem van die HERE jou God, en doen wat reg is in sy oë, en sy gebooie gehoorsaam, en al sy insettinge onderhou, sal ek geen van die siektes op jou lê wat ek op die Egiptenaars gelê het nie: want ek is die HERE wat jou genees.

And they came to Elim, where [were] twelve wells of water, and threescore and ten palm trees: and they encamped there by the waters.
En hulle het by Elim gekom, waar twaalf waterfonteine was, en sewentig palmbome: en hulle het daar by die waters kamp opgeslaan.
