Hear, O Israel: Thou [art] to pass over Jordan this day, to go in to possess nations greater and mightier than thyself, cities great and fenced up to heaven,
Hoor, Israel: Jy trek vandag oor die Jordaan, om in te gaan om nasies in besit te neem wat groter en magtiger is as jy, stede groot en ommuur tot in die hemel,

A people great and tall, the children of the Anakims, whom thou knowest, and [of whom] thou hast heard [say], Who can stand before the children of Anak!
’n Volk groot en lank, die kinders van die Enakiete, wat jy ken, en van wie jy gehoor het sê, Wie kan voor die kinders van Enak standhou?

Understand therefore this day, that the LORD thy God [is] he which goeth over before thee; [as] a consuming fire he shall destroy them, and he shall bring them down before thy face: so shalt thou drive them out, and destroy them quickly, as the LORD hath said unto thee.
Weet dan vandag dat die HERE jou God is Hy wat voor jou uitgaan; soos ’n verterende vuur sal Hy hulle vernietig, en Hy sal hulle voor jou aangesig neerwerp: so sal jy hulle spoedig uitdrywe, en hulle vernietig, soos die HERE jou gesê het.

Speak not thou in thine heart, after that the LORD thy God hath cast them out from before thee, saying, For my righteousness the LORD hath brought me in to possess this land: but for the wickedness of these nations the LORD doth drive them out from before thee.
Moenie in jou hart spreek, nadat die HERE jou God hulle voor jou uit verdrywe het, en sê, Om my geregtigheid se ontwil het die HERE my in gebring om hierdie land te besit nie: maar om die goddeloosheid van hierdie nasies se ontwil verdrywe die HERE hulle voor jou uit.

Not for thy righteousness, or for the uprightness of thine heart, dost thou go to possess their land: but for the wickedness of these nations the LORD thy God doth drive them out from before thee, and that he may perform the word which the LORD sware unto thy fathers, Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.
Nie om jou geregtigheid, of om die opregtheid van jou hart nie, trek jy in om hulle land te besit: maar om die goddeloosheid van hierdie nasies se ontwil verdrywe die HERE jou God hulle voor jou uit, en dat Hy die woord mag bevestig wat die HERE aan jou vaders, Abraham, Isak, en Jakob, met ‚'n eed beloof het.

Understand therefore, that the LORD thy God giveth thee not this good land to possess it for thy righteousness; for thou [art] a stiffnecked people.
Verstaan dan dat die HERE jou God jou nie hierdie goeie land gee om dit te besit om jou geregtigheid se ontwil nie; want jy is ‚'n hardnekkige volk.

Remember, [and] forget not, how thou provokedst the LORD thy God to wrath in the wilderness: from the day that thou didst depart out of the land of Egypt, until ye came unto this place, ye have been rebellious against the LORD.
Gedenk, vergeet nie, hoe jy die HERE jou God in die wildernis vertoorn het: van die dag af dat jy uit die land Egipte uitgegaan het, totdat julle by hierdie plek gekom het, was julle onwillig teen die HERE.

Also in Horeb ye provoked the LORD to wrath, so that the LORD was angry with you to have destroyed you.
Ook by Horeb het julle die HERE vertoorn, sodat die HERE toornig was teen julle om julle te vernietig.

When I was gone up into the mount to receive the tables of stone, [even] the tables of the covenant which the LORD made with you, then I abode in the mount forty days and forty nights, I neither did eat bread nor drink water:
Toe ek op die berg opgeklim het om die tafels van klip te ontvang, selfs die tafels van die verbond wat die HERE met julle gemaak het, toe het ek veertig dae en veertig nagte op die berg gebly; ek het geen brood geëet of water gedrink nie:

And the LORD delivered unto me two tables of stone written with the finger of God; and on them [was written] according to all the words, which the LORD spake with you in the mount out of the midst of the fire in the day of the assembly.
En die HERE het aan my twee tafels van klip gegee, beskrywe met die vinger van God; en daarop was al die woorde wat die HERE met julle op die berg uit die midde van die vuur gespreek het in die dag van die vergadering.

And it came to pass at the end of forty days and forty nights, [that] the LORD gave me the two tables of stone, [even] the tables of the covenant.
En dit het gebeur aan die end van veertig dae en veertig nagte, dat die HERE aan my die twee tafels van klip, selfs die tafels van die verbond, gegee het.

And the LORD said unto me, Arise, get thee down quickly from hence; for thy people which thou hast brought forth out of Egypt have corrupted [themselves]; they are quickly turned aside out of the way which I commanded them; they have made them a molten image.
En die HERE het tot my gesê, Staan op, klim spoedig hier af; want jou volk wat jy uit Egipte uitgebring het, het hulle bederf; hulle het gou afgewyk van die pad wat ek hulle beveel het; hulle het vir hulle ’n gegote beeld gemaak.

Furthermore the LORD spake unto me, saying, I have seen this people, and, behold, it [is] a stiffnecked people:
Verder het die HERE tot my gespreek, en gesê, Ek het hierdie volk gesien, en kyk, dit is ’n hardnekkige volk:
14
Let me alone, that I may destroy them, and blot out their name from under heaven: and I will make of thee a nation mightier and greater than they.
Laat My met rus, dat ek hulle mag vernietig, en hulle naam van onder die hemel uitwis: en ek sal van jou ‚'n nasie maak wat magtiger en groter is as hulle.

So I turned and came down from the mount, and the mount burned with fire: and the two tables of the covenant [were] in my two hands.
So het ek dan omgedraai en van die berg afgeklim, en die berg het met vuur gebrand: en die twee tafels van die verbond was in my twee hande.
16
And I looked, and, behold, ye had sinned against the LORD your God, [and] had made you a molten calf: ye had turned aside quickly out of the way which the LORD had commanded you.
En ek het gekyk, en kyk, julle het teen die HERE julle God gesondig, en vir julle ‚'n gegote kalf gemaak: julle het gou afgewyk van die pad wat die HERE julle beveel het.

And I took the two tables, and cast them out of my two hands, and brake them before your eyes.
En ek het die twee tafels geneem, en hulle uit my twee hande gegooi, en hulle voor julle oë stukkend gebreek.
18
And I fell down before the LORD, as at the first, forty days and forty nights: I did neither eat bread, nor drink water, because of all your sins which ye sinned, in doing wickedly in the sight of the LORD, to provoke him to anger.
En ek het voor die HERE neergeval, soos die eerste keer, veertig dae en veertig nagte: ek het geen brood geëet, of water gedrink nie, vanweë al julle sondes wat julle gesondig het, deur te doen wat sleg was in die oë van die HERE, om Hom te terg.

For I was afraid of the anger and hot displeasure, wherewith the LORD was wroth against you to destroy you. But the LORD hearkened unto me at that time also.
Want ek was bevrees vir die toorn en die grimmigheid, waarmee die HERE teen julle toornig was om julle te vernietig. Maar die HERE het ook in daardie tyd na my geluister.

And the LORD was very angry with Aaron to have destroyed him: and I prayed for Aaron also the same time.
En die HERE was baie toornig teen Aäron om hom te vernietig: en ek het ook in daardie tyd vir Aäron gebid.
21
And I took your sin, the calf which ye had made, and burnt it with fire, and stamped it, [and] ground [it] very small, [even] until it was as small as dust: and I cast the dust thereof into the brook that descended out of the mount.
En ek het julle sonde geneem, die kalf wat julle gemaak het, en dit met vuur verbrand, en dit gestamp, en dit baie fyn gemaal, totdat dit so fyn was soos stof: en ek het die stof daarvan in die stroom gegooi wat van die berg afvloei.

And at Taberah, and at Massah, and at Kibrothhattaavah, ye provoked the LORD to wrath.
En by Tabéra, en by Massa, en by Kibrot-Hattáäwa, het julle die HERE vertoorn.

Likewise when the LORD sent you from Kadeshbarnea, saying, Go up and possess the land which I have given you; then ye rebelled against the commandment of the LORD your God, and ye believed him not, nor hearkened to his voice.
Net so, toe die HERE julle van Kades-Barnéa gestuur het, en gesê het, Trek op en besit die land wat ek julle gegee het; toe was julle onwillig teen die bevel van die HERE julle God, en julle het Hom nie geglo nie, en nie na sy stem geluister nie.

Ye have been rebellious against the LORD from the day that I knew you.
Julle was onwillig teen die HERE van die dag af dat ek julle geken het.
25
Thus I fell down before the LORD forty days and forty nights, as I fell down [at the first]; because the LORD had said he would destroy you.
So het ek dan voor die HERE neergeval die veertig dae en veertig nagte, soos ek neergeval het; omdat die HERE gesê het Hy sou julle vernietig.
26
I prayed therefore unto the LORD, and said, O Lord GOD, destroy not thy people and thine inheritance, which thou hast redeemed through thy greatness, which thou hast brought forth out of Egypt with a mighty hand.
Ek het dus tot die HERE gebid, en gesê, O Here HERE, vernietig nie u volk en u erfenis nie, wat U deur u grootheid verlos het, wat U met ’n magtige hand uit Egipte uitgebring het.

Remember thy servants, Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob; look not unto the stubbornness of this people, nor to their wickedness, nor to their sin:
Gedenk u dienaars, Abraham, Isak, en Jakob; moenie kyk na die hardheid van hierdie volk nie, of na hulle goddeloosheid, of na hulle sonde:
28
Lest the land whence thou broughtest us out say, Because the LORD was not able to bring them into the land which he promised them, and because he hated them, he hath brought them out to slay them in the wilderness.
Dat die land waarvandaan U ons uitgebring het, nie sê nie, Omdat die HERE nie in staat was om hulle in die land in te bring wat Hy hulle beloof het nie, en omdat Hy hulle gehaat het, het Hy hulle uitgebring om hulle in die wildernis om te bring.

Yet they [are] thy people and thine inheritance, which thou broughtest out by thy mighty power and by thy stretched out arm.
Tog is hulle u volk en u erfenis, wat U uitgebring het deur u groot krag en deur u uitgestrekte arm.
