He that is wounded in the stones, or hath his privy member cut off, shall not enter into the congregation of the LORD.

Hy wat met gestampte of afgesnyde stene is, mag nie in die vergadering van die HERE kom nie.

2

A bastard shall not enter into the congregation of the LORD; even to his tenth generation shall he not enter into the congregation of the LORD.

‚'n Baster mag nie in die vergadering van die HERE kom nie; selfs tot in sy tiende geslag mag hy nie in die vergadering van die HERE kom nie.

3

An Ammonite or Moabite shall not enter into the congregation of the LORD; even to their tenth generation shall they not enter into the congregation of the LORD for ever:

‚'n Ammoniet of Moabiet mag nie in die vergadering van die HERE kom nie; selfs tot in hulle tiende geslag mag hulle nie in die vergadering van die HERE kom nie vir ewig:

Because they met you not with bread and with water in the way, when ye came forth out of Egypt; and because they hired against thee Balaam the son of Beor of Pethor of Mesopotamia, to curse thee.

Omdat hulle julle nie met brood en met water tegemoetgegaan het op die pad, toe julle uit Egipte uitgegaan het nie; en omdat hulle teen jou Bileam die seun van Beor uit Petor van Mesopotamië gehuur het, om jou te vloek.

Nevertheless the LORD thy God would not hearken unto Balaam; but the LORD thy God turned the curse into a blessing unto thee, because the LORD thy God loved thee.

Tog wou die HERE jou God nie na Bileam luister nie; maar die HERE jou God het die vloek vir jou in ’n seën verander, omdat die HERE jou God jou liefgehad het.

Thou shalt not seek their peace nor their prosperity all thy days for ever.

Jy mag hulle vrede of hulle voorspoed nie soek al jou dae vir ewig nie.

7

Thou shalt not abhor an Edomite; for he [is] thy brother: thou shalt not abhor an Egyptian; because thou wast a stranger in his land.

Jy mag nie ‚'n Edomiet verfoei nie; want hy is jou broer: jy mag nie ‚'n Egiptenaar verfoei nie; omdat jy ‚'n vreemdeling in sy land was.

The children that are begotten of them shall enter into the congregation of the LORD in their third generation.

Die kinders wat van hulle verwek word in die derde geslag, mag in die vergadering van die HERE kom.

9

When the host goeth forth against thine enemies, then keep thee from every wicked thing.

Wanneer die leër uitgaan teen jou vyande, dan moet jy jou bewaring hou van elke boos ding.

10

If there be among you any man, that is not clean by reason of uncleanness that chanceth him by night, then shall he go abroad out of the camp, he shall not come within the camp:

As daar onder julle enige man is, wat nie rein is deur die oorsaak van die nag nie, dan moet hy buite die kamp uitgaan, hy mag nie in die kamp inkom nie:

11

But it shall be, when evening cometh on, he shall wash [himself] with water: and when the sun is down, he shall come into the camp [again].

Maar dit moet wees, wanneer die aand kom, moet hy homself met water was: en wanneer die son ondergaan, moet hy in die kamp inkom.

12

Thou shalt have a place also without the camp, whither thou shalt go forth abroad:

Jy moet ook ’n plek hê buite die kamp, waarheen jy moet uitgaan:

13

And thou shalt have a paddle upon thy weapon; and it shall be, when thou wilt ease thyself abroad, thou shalt dig therewith, and shalt turn back and cover that which cometh from thee:

En jy moet ’n graaf by jou wapen hê; en dit moet wees, wanneer jy daar buite neersit, moet jy daarmee grawe, en omdraai en dit toedek wat van jou uitgaan:

For the LORD thy God walketh in the midst of thy camp, to deliver thee, and to give up thine enemies before thee; therefore shall thy camp be holy: that he see no unclean thing in thee, and turn away from thee.

Want die HERE jou God wandel in die midde van jou kamp, om jou te red, en om jou vyande voor jou oor te gee; daarom moet jou kamp heilig wees: dat Hy niks onreins in jou sien, en Hom van jou afwend nie.

15

Thou shalt not deliver unto his master the servant which is escaped from his master unto thee:

Jy mag nie ‚'n dienskneg uitlewer aan sy meester, wat van sy meester na jou ontvlug het nie:

16

He shall dwell with thee, [even] among you, in that place which he shall choose in one of thy gates, where it liketh him best: thou shalt not oppress him.

Hy moet by jou woon, selfs onder jou, in daardie plek wat hy sal uitkies in een van jou poorte, waar dit hom behaag: jy mag hom nie verdruk nie.

17

There shall be no whore of the daughters of Israel, nor a sodomite of the sons of Israel.

Daar mag geen hoer wees van die dogters van Israel nie, en daar mag geen sodomiet wees van die seuns van Israel nie.

18

Thou shalt not bring the hire of a whore, or the price of a dog, into the house of the LORD thy God for any vow: for even both these [are] abomination unto the LORD thy God.

Jy mag die huur van ‚'n hoer, of die prys van ‚'n hond nie in die huis van die HERE jou God bring vir enige gelofte nie: want albei hierdie is ‚'n gruwel vir die HERE jou God.

19

Thou shalt not lend upon usury to thy brother; usury of money, usury of victuals, usury of any thing that is lent upon usury:

Jy mag nie rente van jou broer neem nie; rente van geld, rente van voedsel, rente van enigiets wat uitgeleen word op rente:

20

Unto a stranger thou mayest lend upon usury; but unto thy brother thou shalt not lend upon usury: that the LORD thy God may bless thee in all that thou settest thine hand to in the land whither thou goest to possess it.

Aan ’n uitlander mag jy rente gee; maar aan jou broer mag jy nie rente gee nie: dat die HERE jou God jou mag seën in alles wat jy jou hand na uitsteek in die land waarheen jy gaan om dit te besit.

21

When thou shalt vow a vow unto the LORD thy God, thou shalt not slack to pay it: for the LORD thy God will surely require it of thee; and it would be sin in thee.

Wanneer jy ‚'n gelofte aan die HERE jou God doen, moet jy nie traag wees om dit te betaal nie: want die HERE jou God sal dit sekerlik van jou eis; en dit sal sonde in jou wees.

22

But if thou shalt forbear to vow, it shall be no sin in thee.

Maar as jy nalaat om te beloof, sal dit geen sonde in jou wees nie.

23

That which is gone out of thy lips thou shalt keep and perform; [even] a freewill offering, according as thou hast vowed unto the LORD thy God, which thou hast promised with thy mouth.

Dit wat uit jou lippe uitgegaan het, moet jy sorgvuldig hou en doen; soos jy aan die HERE jou God vrywillig beloof het, selfs dit wat jy met jou mond gespreek het.

24

When thou comest into thy neighbour’s vineyard, then thou mayest eat grapes thy fill at thine own pleasure; but thou shalt not put [any] in thy vessel.

Wanneer jy in jou naaste se wingerd kom, dan mag jy druiwe eet volgens jou eie lus, tot jou versadiging; maar jy mag niks in jou vat sit nie.

25

When thou comest into the standing corn of thy neighbour, then thou mayest pluck the ears with thine hand; but thou shalt not move a sickle unto thy neighbour’s standing corn.

Wanneer jy in die staande koring van jou naaste kom, dan mag jy die are met jou hand pluk; maar jy mag nie ‚'n sekel in jou naaste se staande koring sit nie.
