1
Thou shalt not see thy brother’s ox or his sheep go astray, and hide thyself from them: thou shalt in any case bring them again unto thy brother.
Jy mag jou broer se os of sy skaap nie sien dwaal, en jou daarvoor wegsteek nie: jy moet hulle sekerlik na jou broer terugbring.

And if thy brother [be] not nigh unto thee, or if thou know him not, then thou shalt bring it unto thine own house, and it shall be with thee until thy brother seek after it, and thou shalt restore it to him again.
En as jou broer nie naby jou is nie, of as jy hom nie ken nie, dan moet jy dit in jou eie huis inbring, en dit by jou hou totdat jou broer dit soek, en jy moet dit aan hom teruggee.

In like manner shalt thou do with his ass; and so shalt thou do with his raiment; and with all lost thing of thy brother’s, which he hath lost, and thou hast found, shalt thou do likewise: thou mayest not hide thyself.
So moet jy doen met sy esel; en so moet jy doen met sy kleed; en so moet jy doen met elke verlore ding van jou broer, wat hy verloor het, en jy dit gevind het: jy mag jou nie wegsteek nie.

Thou shalt not see thy brother’s ass or his ox fall down by the way, and hide thyself from them: thou shalt surely help him to lift [them] up again.
Jy mag jou broer se esel of sy os nie sien val langs die pad, en jou daarvoor wegsteek nie: jy moet hulle sekerlik help om op te staan.

The woman shall not wear that which pertaineth unto a man, neither shall a man put on a woman’s garment: for all that do so [are] abomination unto the LORD thy God.
Die vrou mag nie man se klere aantrek nie, en die man mag nie vrou se klere aantrek nie: want almal wat so doen, is ‚'n gruwel vir die HERE jou God.

If a bird’s nest chance to be before thee in the way in any tree, or on the ground, [whether they be] young ones, or eggs, and the dam sitting upon the young, or upon the eggs, thou shalt not take the dam with the young:
As ’n voëlnes voor jou in die pad teëkom, in enige boom, of op die grond, of met jonges of eiers, en die moeder sit op die jonges, of op die eiers, mag jy die moeder nie saam met die jonges neem nie:

[But] thou shalt in any wise let the dam go, and take the young to thee; that it may be well with thee, and [that] thou mayest prolong [thy] days.
Maar jy moet die moeder sekerlik laat gaan, en die jonges vir jou neem; dat dit met jou goed mag gaan, en dat jy jou dae mag verleng.
8
When thou buildest a new house, then thou shalt make a battlement for thy roof, that thou bring not blood upon thine house, if any man fall from thence.
Wanneer jy ‚'n nuwe huis bou, dan moet jy ‚'n leuning maak vir jou dak, dat jy nie bloedskuld op jou huis bring as iemand daarvan afval nie.

Thou shalt not sow thy vineyard with divers seeds: lest the fruit of thy seed which thou hast sown, and the fruit of thy vineyard, be defiled.
Jy mag jou wingerd nie met gemengde saad besaai nie: dat die vrug van jou saad wat jy gesaai het, en die vrug van jou wingerd, nie ontheilig word nie.

Thou shalt not plow with an ox and an ass together.
Jy mag nie met ‚'n os en ‚'n esel saam ploeg nie.
11
Thou shalt not wear a garment of divers sorts, [as] of woollen and linen together.
Jy mag nie ‚'n kleed van gemengde stowwe, van wol en linne saam, aantrek nie.
12
Thou shalt make thee fringes upon the four quarters of thy vesture, wherewith thou coverest [thyself].
Jy moet vir jou franjes maak aan die vier soome van jou kleed, waarmee jy jou bedek.
13
If any man take a wife, and go in unto her, and hate her,
As enige man ‚'n vrou neem, en by haar ingaan, en haar haat,
14
And give occasions of speech against her, and bring up an evil name upon her, and say, I took this woman, and when I came to her, I found her not a maid:
En skandelike dinge teen haar oplewer, en ’n slegte naam oor haar uitbring, en sê, Ek het hierdie vrou geneem, en toe ek by haar kom, het ek haar nie ’n maagd gevind nie:

Then shall the father of the damsel, and her mother, take and bring forth [the tokens of] the damsel’s virginity unto the elders of the city in the gate:
Dan moet die vader van die meisie, en haar moeder, die tekens van die meisie se maagdelikheid uitneem, en dit uitbring by die ouderlinge van die stad in die poort:

And the damsel’s father shall say unto the elders, I gave my daughter unto this man to wife, and he hateth her;
En die meisie se vader moet tot die ouderlinge sê, Ek het my dogter aan hierdie man tot vrou gegee, en hy haat haar;
17
And, lo, he hath given occasions of speech [against her], saying, I found not thy daughter a maid; and yet these [are the tokens of] my daughter’s virginity. And they shall spread the cloth before the elders of the city.
En kyk, hy het skandelike dinge teen haar opgelewer, en gesê, Ek het jou dogter nie ’n maagd gevind nie; en tog is hier die tekens van my dogter se maagdelikheid. En hulle moet die kleed voor die ouderlinge van die stad uitsprei.
18
And the elders of that city shall take that man and chastise him;
En die ouderlinge van daardie stad moet die man neem, en hom tugtig;
19
And they shall amerce him in an hundred [shekels] of silver, and give [them] unto the father of the damsel, because he hath brought up an evil name upon a virgin of Israel: and she shall be his wife; he may not put her away all his days.
En hulle moet hom ‚'n honderd sikkels silwer opleg, en dit aan die vader van die meisie gee, omdat hy ‚'n slegte naam oor ‚'n maagd van Israel uitbring: en sy moet sy vrou wees; hy mag haar nie al sy dae verstoot nie.
20
But if this thing be true, [and the tokens of] virginity be not found for the damsel:
Maar as hierdie ding waar is, en die tekens van maagdelikheid nie by die meisie gevind word nie:
21
Then they shall bring out the damsel to the door of her father’s house, and the men of her city shall stone her with stones that she die: because she hath wrought folly in Israel, to play the whore in her father’s house: so shalt thou put evil away from among you.
Dan moet hulle die meisie uitbring by die deur van haar vader se huis, en die manne van haar stad moet haar stenig met klippe dat sy sterwe: omdat sy dwaasheid in Israel gedoen het, om te hoereer in haar vader se huis: so moet jy die boosheid uit jou midde uitroei.
22
If a man be found lying with a woman married to an husband, then they shall both of them die, [both] the man that lay with the woman, and the woman: so shalt thou put away evil from Israel.
As ’n man gevind word wat by ’n vrou lê, getroud met ’n man, dan moet hulle altwee sterwe, beide die man wat by die vrou gelê het, en die vrou: so moet jy die boosheid uit Israel uitroei.
23
If a damsel [that is] a virgin be betrothed unto an husband, and a man find her in the city, and lie with her;
As ’n meisie wat ’n maagd is, verloof is aan ’n man, en ’n man haar in die stad vind, en by haar lê;
24
Then ye shall bring them both out unto the gate of that city, and ye shall stone them with stones that they die; the damsel, because she cried not, [being] in the city; and the man, because he hath humbled his neighbour’s wife: so thou shalt put away evil from among you.
Dan moet julle hulle altwee uitbring by die poort van daardie stad, en julle moet hulle stenig met klippe dat hulle sterwe; die meisie, omdat sy nie geskreeu het nie in die stad; en die man, omdat hy sy naaste se vrou verneder het: so moet jy die boosheid uit jou midde uitroei.
25
But if a man find a betrothed damsel in the field, and the man force her, and lie with her: then the man only that lay with her shall die:
Maar as ’n man die verloofde meisie in die veld vind, en die man haar gryp, en by haar lê: dan moet net die man wat by haar gelê het, sterwe:
26
But unto the damsel thou shalt do nothing; [there is] in the damsel no sin [worthy] of death: for as when a man riseth against his neighbour, and slayeth him, even so [is] this matter:
Maar aan die meisie moet jy niks doen nie; daar is in die meisie geen sonde wat die dood waardig is nie: want soos wanneer ‚'n man teen sy naaste opstaan, en hom doodslaan, so is hierdie saak:
27
For he found her in the field, [and] the betrothed damsel cried, and [there was] none to save her.
Want hy het haar in die veld gevind, en die verloofde meisie het geskreeu, en daar was niemand om haar te red nie.
28
If a man find a damsel [that is] a virgin, which is not betrothed, and lay hold on her, and lie with her, and they be found;
As ’n man ’n meisie vind wat ’n maagd is, wat nie verloof is nie, en haar gryp, en by haar lê, en hulle gevind word;
29
Then the man that lay with her shall give unto the damsel’s father fifty [shekels] of silver, and she shall be his wife; because he hath humbled her, he may not put her away all his days.
Dan moet die man wat by haar gelê het, aan die meisie se vader vyftig sikkels silwer gee, en sy moet sy vrou wees; omdat hy haar verneder het, hy mag haar nie al sy dae verstoot nie.
30
A man shall not take his father’s wife, nor discover his father’s skirt.
‚'n Man mag nie sy vader se vrou neem nie, en hy mag sy vader se bed nie ontbloot nie.
