1
The priests the Levites, [and] all the tribe of Levi, shall have no part nor inheritance with Israel: they shall eat the offerings of the LORD made by fire, and his inheritance.
Die priesters die Leviete, en die hele stam van Levi, moet geen deel of erfenis met Israel hê nie: hulle moet die vuuroffers van die HERE, en sy erfenis eet.

Therefore shall they have no inheritance among their brethren: the LORD [is] their inheritance, as he hath said unto them.
Daarom moet hulle geen erfenis onder hulle broers hê nie: die HERE is hulle erfenis, soos Hy hulle gesê het.
3
And this shall be the priest’s due from the people, from them that offer a sacrifice, whether [it be] ox or sheep; and they shall give unto the priest the shoulder, and the two cheeks, and the maw.
En dit moet die priester se reg wees van die volk, van hulle wat enige slagoffer offer, of dit os of skaap is; en hulle moet aan die priester gee die skouer, en die twee wange, en die maag.

The firstfruit [also] of thy corn, of thy wine, and of thine oil, and the first of the fleece of thy sheep, shalt thou give him.
Die eerstelinge ook van jou koring, van jou mos, en van jou olie, en die eerste van die vlag van jou skape, moet jy aan hom gee.
5
For the LORD thy God hath chosen him out of all thy tribes, to stand to minister in the name of the LORD, him and his sons for ever.
Want die HERE jou God het hom uit al jou stamme uitverkies, om te staan om in die Naam van die HERE te dien, hy en sy seuns vir ewig.
6
And if a Levite come from any of thy gates out of all Israel, where he sojourned, and come with all the desire of his mind unto the place which the LORD shall choose;
En as ‚'n Leviet uit enige van jou poorte kom, uit die hele Israel waar hy as vreemdeling vertoef, en hy kom met al die begeerte van sy siel na die plek wat die HERE sal uitkies;

Then he shall minister in the name of the LORD his God, as all his brethren the Levites [do], which stand there before the LORD.
Dan moet hy dien in die Naam van die HERE sy God, soos al sy broers die Leviete doen, wat daar voor die HERE staan.
8
They shall have like portions to eat, beside that which cometh of the sale of his patrimony.
Hulle moet gelyke dele eet, benewens dit wat kom van die verkoop van sy vaderlike goed.
9
When thou art come into the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee, thou shalt not learn to do after the abominations of those nations.
Wanneer jy in die land kom wat die HERE jou God jou gee, moet jy nie leer om na die gruwels van daardie nasies te doen nie.
10
There shall not be found among you [any one] that maketh his son or his daughter to pass through the fire, [or] that useth divination, [or] an observer of times, or an enchanter, or a witch,
Daar mag niemand onder jou gevind word wat sy seun of sy dogter deur die vuur laat deurgaan nie, of wat waarsêery beoefen, of ’n waarnemer van tye, of ’n towerder, of ’n towenaar,

Or a charmer, or a consulter with familiar spirits, or a wizard, or a necromancer.
Of ’n besweerder, of een wat met geeste omgaan, of ’n waarsêer, of een wat die dooies raadpleeg.
12
For all that do these things [are] an abomination unto the LORD: and because of these abominations the LORD thy God doth drive them out from before thee.
Want almal wat hierdie dinge doen, is ’n gruwel vir die HERE: en vanweë hierdie gruwels verdrywe die HERE jou God hulle voor jou uit.
13
Thou shalt be perfect with the LORD thy God.
Jy moet volkome wees met die HERE jou God.
14
For these nations, which thou shalt possess, hearkened unto observers of times, and unto diviners: but as for thee, the LORD thy God hath not suffered thee so [to do].
Want hierdie nasies, wat jy sal besit, het na waarnemers van tye, en na waarsêers geluister: maar wat jou betref, die HERE jou God het jou nie so toegelaat nie.

The LORD thy God will raise up unto thee a Prophet from the midst of thee, of thy brethren, like unto me; unto him ye shall hearken;
Die HERE jou God sal vir jou ‚'n Profeet uit jou midde, uit jou broers, soos ek, verwek; na Hom moet julle luister;
16
According to all that thou desiredst of the LORD thy God in Horeb in the day of the assembly, saying, Let me not hear again the voice of the LORD my God, neither let me see this great fire any more, that I die not.
Volgens alles wat jy van die HERE jou God in Horeb begeer het in die dag van die vergadering, en gesê het, Laat my nie weer die stem van die HERE my God hoor nie, en laat my hierdie groot vuur nie meer sien nie, dat ek nie sterwe nie.

And the LORD said unto me, They have well [spoken that] which they have spoken.
En die HERE het tot my gesê, Hulle het goed gesê wat hulle gespreek het.
18
I will raise them up a Prophet from among their brethren, like unto thee, and will put my words in his mouth; and he shall speak unto them all that I shall command him.
Ek sal vir hulle ‚'n Profeet uit die midde van hulle broers verwek, soos jy, en sal my woorde in sy mond sit; en hy sal tot hulle spreek alles wat ek hom beveel.

And it shall come to pass, [that] whosoever will not hearken unto my words which he shall speak in my name, I will require [it] of him.
En dit sal gebeur, dat elkeen wat nie na my woorde luister wat hy in my Naam sal spreek nie, ek sal dit van hom eis.
20
But the prophet, which shall presume to speak a word in my name, which I have not commanded him to speak, or that shall speak in the name of other gods, even that prophet shall die.
Maar die profeet, wat vermetel is om ‚'n woord in my Naam te spreek, wat ek hom nie beveel het om te spreek nie, of wat in die naam van ander gode spreek, selfs daardie profeet moet sterwe.

And if thou say in thine heart, How shall we know the word which the LORD hath not spoken?
En as jy in jou hart sê, Hoe sal ons die woord ken wat die HERE nie gespreek het nie?
22
When a prophet speaketh in the name of the LORD, if the thing follow not, nor come to pass, that [is] the thing which the LORD hath not spoken, [but] the prophet hath spoken it presumptuously: thou shalt not be afraid of him.
Wanneer ‚'n profeet spreek in die Naam van die HERE, as die ding nie gebeur nie, en nie kom nie, dit is die ding wat die HERE nie gespreek het nie, maar die profeet het dit vermetel gespreek: jy mag nie bevrees wees vir hom nie.
