So king Solomon was king over all Israel.

So was koning Salomo dan koning oor die hele Israel.

And these [were] the princes which he had; Azariah the son of Zadok the priest,

En dit was die vorste wat hy gehad het; Asarja die seun van Sadok die priester,

Elihoreph and Ahiah, the sons of Shisha, scribes; Jehoshaphat the son of Ahilud, the recorder.

Elihoref en Ahía, die seuns van Sisa, skrywers; Josafat die seun van Ahílud, die kanselier.

And Benaiah the son of Jehoiada [was] over the host: and Zadok and Abiathar [were] the priests:

En Benája die seun van Jójada was oor die leër: en Sadok en Abjatar was die priesters:

And Azariah the son of Nathan [was] over the officers: and Zabud the son of Nathan [was] principal officer, [and] the king’s friend:

And Ahishar [was] over the household: and Adoniram the son of Abda [was] over the tribute.

En Ahisar was oor die huis: en Adoniram die seun van Abda was oor die dienspligtiges.

And Solomon had twelve officers over all Israel, which provided victuals for the king and his household: each man his month in a year made provision.

En Salomo het twaalf amptenare oor die hele Israel gehad, wat vir die koning en sy huis voedsel voorsien het: elkeen se beurt was ‚'n maand in die jaar om voedsel te voorsien.

And these [are] their names: The son of Hur, in mount Ephraim:

En dit is hulle name: Die seun van Hur, in die berg Efraim:

The son of Dekar, in Makaz, and in Shaalbim, and Bethshemesh, and Elonbethhanan:

Die seun van Deker, in Makas, en in Saälbim, en Bet-Semes, en Elon-Bet-Hanan:

The son of Hesed, in Aruboth; to him [pertained] Sochoh, and all the land of Hepher:

The son of Abinadab, in all the region of Dor; which had Taphath the daughter of Solomon to wife:

Baana the son of Ahilud; [to him pertained] Taanach and Megiddo, and all Bethshean, which [is] by Zartanah beneath Jezreel, from Bethshean to Abelmeholah, [even] unto [the place that is] beyond Jokneam:

Baäna die seun van Ahílud; aan hom behoort Táänag en Megiddo, en die hele Bet-Sean, wat by Saretan onder Jisreël is, van Bet-Sean af tot by Abel-Mehola, selfs tot anderkant Jokneam:

The son of Geber, in Ramothgilead; to him [pertained] the towns of Jair the son of Manasseh, which [are] in Gilead; to him [also pertained] the region of Argob, which [is] in Bashan, threescore great cities with walls and brasen bars:

Die seun van Geber, in Ramot-Gílead; aan hom behoort die dorpe van Jaïr die seun van Manasse, wat in Gílead is; aan hom behoort ook die streek van Argob, wat in Basan is, sestig groot stede met mure en kopergrendels:

Ahinadab the son of Iddo [had] Mahanaim:

Ahinadab die seun van Iddo het Mahánaïm gehad:

Ahimaaz [was] in Naphtali; he also took Basmath the daughter of Solomon to wife:

Ahimaäs was in Naftali; hy het ook Basemat die dogter van Salomo as vrou geneem:

Baanah the son of Hushai [was] in Asher and in Aloth:

Baäna die seun van Husai was in Aser en in Alót:

Jehoshaphat the son of Paruah, in Issachar:

Josafat die seun van Parúag, in Issaskar:

Shimei the son of Elah, in Benjamin:

Símeï die seun van Ela, in Benjamin:

Geber the son of Uri [was] in the country of Gilead, [in] the country of Sihon king of the Amorites, and of Og king of Bashan; and [he was] the only officer which [was] in the land.

Geber die seun van Uri was in die land Gílead, in die land van Síhon koning van die Amoriete, en van Og koning van Basan; en hy was die enigste amptenaar wat in die land was.

Judah and Israel [were] many, as the sand which [is] by the sea in multitude, eating and drinking, and making merry.

Juda en Israel was baie, soos die sand wat by die see is in menigte, etende en drinkende, en vrolik.

21

And Solomon reigned over all kingdoms from the river unto the land of the Philistines, and unto the border of Egypt: they brought presents, and served Solomon all the days of his life.

En Salomo het geheers oor al die koninkryke van die rivier af tot by die land van die Filistyne, en tot by die grens van Egipte: hulle het geskenke gebring, en Salomo gedien al die dae van sy lewe.

And Solomon’s provision for one day was thirty measures of fine flour, and threescore measures of meal,

En Salomo se voedsel vir een dag was dertig kor fynmeel, en sestig kor meel,

23

Ten fat oxen, and twenty oxen out of the pastures, and an hundred sheep, beside harts, and roebucks, and fallowdeer, and fatted fowl.

Tien vet osse, en twintig osse uit die wei, en ’n honderd skape, behalwe herte, en gemsbokke, en takbokke, en vetgemaakte voëls.

For he had dominion over all [the region] on this side the river, from Tiphsah even to Azzah, over all the kings on this side the river: and he had peace on all sides round about him.

Want hy het geheers oor die hele streek aan hierdie kant van die rivier, van Tifsag af selfs tot by Gaza, oor al die konings aan hierdie kant van die rivier: en hy het vrede gehad aan alle kante rondom hom.

And Judah and Israel dwelt safely, every man under his vine and under his fig tree, from Dan even to Beersheba, all the days of Solomon.

En Juda en Israel het veilig gewoon, elkeen onder sy wingerdstok en onder sy vyeboom, van Dan af selfs tot by Beërséba, al die dae van Salomo.

26

And Solomon had forty thousand stalls of horses for his chariots, and twelve thousand horsemen.

En Salomo het veertig duisend stalle van perde vir sy strydwaens gehad, en twaalf duisend ruiters.

27

And those officers provided victual for king Solomon, and for all that came unto king Solomon’s table, every man in his month: they lacked nothing.

En daardie amptenare het vir koning Salomo, en vir almal wat by koning Salomo se tafel gekom het, elkeen in sy maand, voedsel voorsien: hulle het niks laat ontbreek nie.

Barley also and straw for the horses and dromedaries brought they unto the place where [the officers] were, every man according to his charge.

Gars ook en strooi vir die perde en dromedare het hulle na die plek gebring waar die amptenare was, elkeen volgens sy voorskrif.

29

And God gave Solomon wisdom and understanding exceeding much, and largeness of heart, even as the sand that [is] on the sea shore.

En God het Salomo wysheid en verstand in groot mate gegee, en wydheid van hart, selfs soos die sand wat aan die see-oos is.

30

And Solomon’s wisdom excelled the wisdom of all the children of the east country, and all the wisdom of Egypt.

En Salomo se wysheid het die wysheid van al die kinders van die ooste oortref, en al die wysheid van Egipte.

31

For he was wiser than all men; than Ethan the Ezrahite, and Heman, and Chalcol, and Darda, the sons of Mahol: and his fame was in all nations round about.

Want hy was wyser as alle mense; as Etan die Esragiet, en Heman, en Kalkol, en Darda, die seuns van Magol: en sy faam was in al die nasies rondom.

And he spake three thousand proverbs: and his songs were a thousand and five.

En hy het drieduisend spreuke gespreek: en sy liedere was ‚'n duisend en vyf.

33

And he spake of trees, from the cedar tree that [is] in Lebanon even unto the hyssop that springeth out of the wall: he spake also of beasts, and of fowl, and of creeping things, and of fishes.

En hy het gespreek van bome, van die sederboom wat in die Líbanon is selfs tot by die hisop wat uit die muur uitspruit: hy het ook gespreek van diere, en van voëls, en van kruipende diere, en van visse.

And there came of all people to hear the wisdom of Solomon, from all kings of the earth, which had heard of his wisdom.

En daar het van al die volke gekom om die wysheid van Salomo te hoor, van al die konings van die aarde, wat van sy wysheid gehoor het.
